While I work in one of the services departments, I feel privileged to belong to an organization that does so much for the world. It seems as though the Foundation really cares for its employees. The pay is competitive among other companies and foundations in the Bay Area. The building and office space is lovely and modern. Plus, there are many perks, from free drinks to great benefits.
There may not be the room for growth as it is a small foundation with little turnover.
- The employees here are smart and talented.
- Great benefits.
- The office space is quite impressive.
- This is an extremely flat organization (which is pretty standard in philanthropy). There is not really a great career trajectory here if you are trying to move up.
- Job titles are not reflective of the work and are not consistent across the company. A Program Associate in one department might be doing all admin work, while another Program Associate in another department might be in more of a researcher or analyst role. It depends on the department.
I worked at Packard Foundation full-time (More than a year)
Doing well by doing good. Camaraderie. Opportunities to expand skillset.
No cons really. Overall a great place to start a career.
I have been working at Packard Foundation as a contractor
Strong culture embedded into the organization. A very exciting and dynamic place to work. Great office and location. Many opportunities to grow and innovate. Everyone is treated very professionally.
The location is expensive to live, meaning a fairly long commute in most situations.
Advice to Management
Keep applying the cultural values that the Foundation has to the different internal an external dilemmas.
