I have been working at Pactiv full-time

    Pros

Fast paced, growth opportunities. Company has done well over the last couple of years and exceeded it's sales and bonus targets. Looking to continue to grow in different markets in the food industry. U.S based mfg, with locations across the U.S.

    Cons

It is a fast paced environment and you roll up your sleeves to get things done. If you are used to delegating may not be place for you.

I have been working at Pactiv full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Quick turnover - there is always a new position opening up. If you are a male - this is the company for you, fast growth for male employees. Depending on your manager - as long as you get your work done on time, there is a lot of flexibility in your start time and leave time. If you know how to play the game and do your bosses work or figure out his problems for him - you will go far in this company. Very hard to get fired from this company - you literally will have to try really hard. In and out times, or internet activity is not monitored, there is no Workforce Management department, or any type of Quality Check Department.

    Cons

Terrible HR department - does not properly educate Managers and staff on maternity leave or breastfeeding mom's. If you are a single dad or mom or have sick children or have any other health or family obligations - this is NOT the place for you to work - Management will see it as an inconvenience. The company does not appreciate hard-working employees - which is why there is a high turnover. The company does not have proper training, or any training for their positions - you will be thrown into open water to either sink or swim with little to no direction from Management.

    Advice to Management

Take a course in how to properly manage your team. You need to have the proper skills to communicate to the people working under you goal and responsibilities. Take an interest in each of your employees work - that way you know how each team member contributes to the success of your department and the growth of the company.

I worked at Pactiv full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Opportunity to work with upper management and buisness units. Training was very good, the best I had, I learned a lot my time there and I was able to grow my knowledge base.

    Cons

Reorganization seems to occur ever few years. No stability. I was hired right after a reorganization occured. Then after 2 years Pactiv was going through another one. That is when I decided to look else where. Then I heard recently they are going through another one. Workloads unrealistic for one person.

    Advice to Management

Delegate work evenly, hire temps rather than full time employees if going through reorganizations every few years.

I worked at Pactiv full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Very financially driven company. Easy to get things done. If you can make a financial argument for your suggestion, many people are willing to listen and explore how to improve performance.

    Cons

Very little focus on people. Leadership team struggles to connect with people directly resulting in a cold, work - only environment.

    Advice to Management

Invest more in people through policies, tools and time.

I worked at Pactiv as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

Able to learn a lot about the human resources department and their methods, which shows you a lot about the company culture as a whole. Friendly, knowledgeable, and diverse.

    Cons

Some departments seemed overburdened and anxious to get things done on time. Otherwise, no complaints, many people make Pactiv their career for many years.

    Advice to Management

Continue to support all teams and give them the tools they need to succeed. Foster good culture by making employees feel independent and empowered, but supported.

I worked at Pactiv full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

There are many talented people working at this company who have years of process knowledge and expertise. People are willing to train you and help you do well. The 401k match was dollar for dollar. Multiple benefit plans from which to select and priced competitively. Location was convenient. The plant I was based out of was exceptionally clean and well run. Supervisors/Managers and former HR ladies had solid leadership skills. Plant management tried their best to protect the plant employees and staff from layoffs.

    Cons

This company is in debt up to their eyeballs. I don't understand how it is still intact today. It will be interesting to see what happens in the next 18 months. Lots of unhappy people working there because they are constantly being required to do more with less to the point where they have cut too deep. As a result, good people have left and are continuing to leave. Some of them, sadly, think they are stuck because they make too much money and don't think they can find it elsewhere. The truth is they can.

    Advice to Management

If people are "your biggest assets" then treat them right so they will stay and be a contributor to your organization. Otherwise, just keep posting job after job after job on LinkedIn............
