Company currently in merging process, so can be confusing which department to go too... but most people willing to help so easy to find the right place.

I worked at Paddy Power Betfair (More than a year)

    Pros

Good company to start with! Very comfortable environment and you can always find time for a regular communication with your colleagues. Good canteen. Sometimes you can get a nice training.

    Cons

It's a huge company and if you started from the bottom line for you it will be almost impossible to get higher. Team leader and managers are normally busy with their career and not with their teams.

    Advice to Management

Please do not isolate yourselves from other levels. We have had in Stevenage so many "hidden caves" where our manager felt super comfortable and never care about real job.

    Pros

Good salary, great benefits and 10% bonus. Good location too.

    Cons

Very siloed. Difficult to get anything done.
It's not what you know, it was always a case of who you knew.

    Advice to Management

Try and break down the interdepartmental barriers

    Pros

none at all. much better not to work for such a rubbish company. possibly the very worst betting company in the world.

    Cons

used to be great but got too greedy for their own good. managers care about money, money, money and have no time for staff.

    Advice to Management

get help. you have ruined a once wonderful company with you contempt of staff and customers. the managers should all be sacked.

I have been working at Paddy Power Betfair full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Paddy Power Betfair is built on a great pot of talent in a fast paced, challenging environment. Work hard play hard would definitely be a fair label for the Paddy Power Betfair work ethic. The business ensures hardworking employees feel valued and offers ongoing development and challenges. Good maternity policy.

    Cons

London office is in a lovely location on the river in Hammersmith, but central would be more convenient.

    Advice to Management

Happy employees equals hardworking, committed employees.

    Pros

Good people, friendly culture. a lot of talented people in some departments which you can learn a lot from. decent bonus but pay rise is minimal unless you get promoted (not so easy). free tea and coffee and beer on fridays.

    Cons

A lot of complicated Values which change all the time, difficult for career development. Not the same company since the merger as there are to many middle managers.

    Advice to Management

create a set of values that stay consistent to make employee appraisals easier. Reduce the number of middle managers and work better as a team. Continue to focus on your staff and their development

I worked at Paddy Power Betfair (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Was a very good company to work for until it went public, after reorganisations and restructures became a company without a face.
Good bonus at the end of the year.

    Cons

Very hard to progress to a new role, ''family'' ties in Malta make it impossible to raise your profile unless you become a good servant to your manager. No personal opinion is taken into consideration, initiative is not rewarded or being noticed at any stage, change is not welcome.

    Advice to Management

Managers have no idea what's going on with their teams and they do not really care. A lot of incompetent managers running business, people come and go. Malta is a mess, culture of fear is very strong there, a lot of very competent and long time employees have left the company because of that. Look on employee liquidity for the past year, try to find out the true reason and you'll see the picture.
