    Growing quickly, many opportunities.

    Pros

-The company management structure is relatively flat and you will quickly notice how easy it is to talk to people who are more senior. -You will always be busy. If you're not with a client, there are plenty of projects to join. -There are opportunities to expand the scope of your work and pursue something that might interest you a bit more. -Very cooperative work environment.

    Cons

-You will at some point be stuck doing monotonous tasks, such as mapping variables, etc. It doesn't matter if you come in with a degree in biology, or a PhD in Quantum Physics, you will will be moving lots of data around, and doing everything associated with that. -Professional development (especially subject matter expertise) is up to you.

    Great Culture, Interesting Engagements

    Pros

Palantir had a really solid training program, aka boot camp. The co-workers were great and the leadership of the company includes many years of good experience in the petroleum industry. Consulting / software implementation assignments were often quite interesting and put you in an environment close to decision makers. With lots of consulting assignments and implementations, it's hard to get bored. When everything goes well, you really feel like you help the clients with business processes and facilitating decision making.

    Cons

The salaries tend not to be on par with the oil & gas industry as it is more of a software company than an oil company. Sometimes you have to deal with drier subjects like data management (i.e. loading data from SAP) rather than petroleum economics.

    Pros

There are many great aspects about Palantir. The people are fun, everyone has great sense of humor and all get along really well. Opportunities for growth are also available, especially if open to taking on different tasks. I have always felt welcome to bring any questions to managers, whether to clarify a task or ask for guidance. It's a big company globally, but locally the office feels small and tight-knit. The culture is relaxed (business casual wear any day) and one of my favorite parts about Palantir. There are also staff parties and team-building events to look forward to.

    Cons

Since there are offices and teams all over the world, communication can get lost. This is easily remedied by following up phone calls with an e-mail in order to make sure you are all on the same page - has definitely saved me some confusion.

    Small Company with Big Goals

    Pros

This niche company has elements of a tech start up combined with a genuine thought leader in the area of oil and gas planning. For a small company, it is very diverse with people from 30+ countries. This global feel is furthered by the fact that the company has offices around the globe. All of Palantir's clients are large or very large oil and gas companies. Palantir software is used to streamline the very complex reserves, portfolio and financial reporting processes. Career progress for employees is very rapid; the people who work here combine skills the skills of an engineering, MBA and computing science graduates. The company is a meritocracy that rates employee contributions on three key principles; demonstrating initiative, delivering measurable results and demonstrating high degrees of customer focus. Employees are given a great deal of flexibility in how they approach their work. The workplace is filled with intelligent, hardworking, motivated individuals who excel at solving problems and getting things done.

    Cons

Like any start up, many of the positive aspects of a smaller company can be a challenge. The flexibility may be a benefit to some but may seem unstructured to some. There are fewer processes than large companies, which can be frustrating to people who like to have things clearly defined for them. The company is smaller and the quality of one's work gets noticed quickly, which is great if the work is good; it's not great if the work is not so good.
