I have been working at Palfish part-time

    Pros

I'm always able to answer to message quickly and seamlessly because I always have my phone. I'm a college student and have been able to teaching the mornings, then go to Uni in the...

    Cons

It takes a lot of work to keep up appearances. You need to continuously be reading the books on the reading apps, checking the student's homework, keeping up with the groups, finding worksheets and reward systems to keep your regular students interested. Every day post multiple moments to draw new students in. They only use Payoneer or a Chinese bank account to send money, and payoneer requires a photo of your social...

I have been working at Palfish part-time for less than a year

    Pros

Hourly rate increase based on the amount of classes you teach per month. A few teachers have become very successful here.

    Cons

This is not a normal teaching job where you just focus on your students, the lesson, and teaching your classes effectively. Especially starting out, plan on spending hours weekly promoting yourself: reading books, creating content for lives, moments and videos. This is not paid, but if you do not do it, you will not get many bookings. It should be noted that this is a company that is very much about sales. I have seen...

    Advice to Management

Fix the unfair booking system, and evaluate teachers based on their actual credentials and teaching abilities not their sales skills.

I have been working at Palfish part-time for more than a year

    Pros

The lessons are prepared for you. You can communicate with parents and students, there is a community of mentors who help new teachers. There is potential here, but it requires a few months of patience and hard work. Not everyone has that time to wait for the financial return.

    Cons

Lots of tech problems, draconian punishments and fines. A lot of self marketing involved, unfair treatment of teachers.

    Advice to Management

Consider valuing your hard working teachers and perhaps you won't lose so many of them.

I worked at Palfish part-time for less than a year

    Pros

    They have a beautiful platform.

    Cons

Palfish hires experienced English Teachers and then never speaks to them again. There is no training, no support, no evaluations, less than minimum wage pay.

    Advice to Management

You don't care about your teachers or your students. Hopefully people will catch on soon and you'll be out of business. Now, that will be a happy day!

I have been working at Palfish full-time for less than a year

    Pros

I have been a teacher online with them a few months. They have the best app there is out there and we love the fact that we have the ability to advertise ourselves and not just wait on someone else on the other side of the world to book us.

    Cons

The only con I have is the time difference but that's not the companies fault.

I have been working at Palfish part-time for less than a year

      Pros

I've been working in Asia for over 10 years now. I worked at a few brick-and-mortar schools and palfish material is better than most of what I've seen. That's not to say it's the best but it is pretty decent it's based on big English by Pearson. Palfish takes care of its teachers. If it's a system error palfish reimburses the teachers for any automatic fines incurred by the system and pays us for missed classes due to...

      Cons

You are only paid monthly which can be difficult for some. Sometimes it can be difficult to get a hold of an admin but most the time it's pretty okay. You have to learn the platform or less on your own there's a lot of self-sufficiency needed in the app which for some like mean is a positive but for a lot of others this can be difficult.

      Advice to Management

Consistency is key. Occasionally information passed on by admins is inconsistent with information passed on by another admin.
