I have been working at Palladium full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Company has gone through dramatic transformation over past 1-2 years, with acquisitions in US and name change. Company has integrated planning and accounting systems across the globe (hubs in London, DC, Brisbane and work in nearly 100 countries) then delegated substantial decision making to each region. Delegation spurred entrepreneurialism, while earlier integration enabled it.

*Company leadership -- and staff -- are passionate about having an impact in the developing world.
*Focus on shared value for corporates and developing countries that will be sustainable because it benefits both.
*Big emphasis on diversity and inclusion in the workplace.

    Cons

*Hard to get used to wall-free work environment in the US, but it does foster collaboration.
    * Growth has led to hiring, and more space is needed in DC!

    Advice to Management

Website doesn't effectively represent the firm.

I have been working at Palladium full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Palladium always has something going on. For the most part, no two days are the same. The company isn't afraid to change processes and structures if it believes there is a better way of accomplishing goals. The atmosphere in the office is very fun and easy going. Everyone gets along and is there to help each other succeed.

    Cons

Because of the ever-changing environment, sometimes it can feel like you never fully get a handle on things. This can. E a positive or negative, depending on what type of environment you are looking for.

I have been working at Palladium full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great location - in the center of DC, in a great building with a food court, within walking distance from the National Mall and all major monuments.

The company has competitive pay and benefits (and new very liberal paternal policy!) and is overall a great place to work at. Very diverse, a lot of interesting folks committed to international development.

Flexible working hours and options to telecommute. I particularly appreciate the flexibility and attention to life-work balance. I mentioned open office space as a con, but it also has its positive sides - you see your colleagues and have more opportunity to engage with them and the senior leadership, which is not just honed inside their offices. Also, because of telecommuting options, one can always work from home when needed.

    Cons

The only con is the office space - an open floor plan. There are no offices, no cubicles. The meeting and huddle rooms book up quickly. Making calls from your desk is problematic as there is always someone who will try to "hush" you. Sometimes makes it difficult to work on tasks that require concentration.

The number of paid vacation days could be better.

    Advice to Management

Work on further improving DC office space - create common spaces were folks who need to talk could huddle or just relax with a cup of coffee.

    Pros

Teleworking is a part of the culture and flexibility that comes with it. Some good people give support and mentoring

    Cons

Poor systems, no orientation or training. Set up to fail. High turnover of people keeps the workload high and commitment poor

I worked at Palladium full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Flexible about telework and remote work.
Party culture (if that's your thing): Free booze during impromptu in-office happy hours; raucous holiday party and afterparty

    Cons

I was employed by one of the disparate companies acquired between 2011-15 by GRM, an Australian "development" firm trying to gain a foothold in the U.S. market. In mid-2015, all of the companies were rebranded as Palladium. The previous GRM cabal, a clique of Australian and British men whose expertise is in trimming operational costs to the bone and finding tax havens, remains firmly in control, finding ways to funnel as much in fees and profit to themselves as possible. They seem to enjoy jetting around the world from their home base in Dubai, trailing stories of sleazy behavior and misogyny in their wake. They have no expertise in most sectors of international development and seemingly no desire to, preferring to use short-term consultants to execute technical work and focusing their energies on the financial side. During and after the rebrand, management implemented increasingly draconian, Sisyphean policies on staff, all the while framing its mission to "make it possible" in jargon-heavy, fatuous terms that no client with more than two brain cells would buy into. I decided that the company's values had become so opposed to my own that I couldn't continue working there.

    Pros

On the operations side, there is a lot of room for moving up if you work hard.

    Cons

A lot of new hires and people leaving has led to high workload for certain employees.
