I have been working at Palm Restaurants part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Very good tips, opportunity to earn prizes with sales contests, fun off site events, inexpensive employee meal programs

    Cons

Unfair seating by management, over scheduled, no weekends off EVER, work every holiday INCLUDING CHRISTMAS DAY

    Advice to Management

Please rotate servers fairly when seating, work some kind of rotation for Saturday's off once in a while, stop playing "favorites" with servers, respect us more and stop disciplining in front of each other

I worked at Palm Restaurants full-time

    Pros

The staff is a good and fun to work with. It is a higher end steak house with a great wine selection.

    Cons

A little pricy but you do what you pay for. Just like all restaurants, hit or miss on the wait staff.

    Advice to Management

Continue to raise the bar for standards for both in the front of the house ( wait staff) as well as the back of the house (kitchen staff)

I worked at Palm Restaurants full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Comparable earnings to other fine dining, great money if you are looking just for a job as server. Insurance offered is nice, but not as good as you would think for a business of this scale. The company is still

    Cons

Annoying uniform. The restaurant is very old school as well as most of the staff. Earning respect from coworkers is almost impossible. Servers are not paid extra to train- they make it a point to not go above and beyond for anyone new. Since the company is not publicly traded, there are a lot of policies that aren't properly presented to the employees. The company will favor the person who has been there for 20 years over someone who has been for 4years- no matter how wrong their actions were. It's disgusting. There is almost no room for growth either.

    Advice to Management

Just because you worked in a restaurant for 35 years, do not think you know everything. Being close minded will get the restaurant nowhere. New hires aren't as willing to "stick it out"- new flash, the 80s are over.

I worked at Palm Restaurants full-time

    Pros

Great product and great staff at store levels.

    Cons

You work at the whim of a mad-man. Being a privately held group, the owner can do what he wants. He still believes this is the 50s and he makes personnel decisions that align with that theory. Hires strictly based on appearance and terminates on appearance, not performance as well. Hence, zero job security. His executive team is powerless if they want to keep their jobs and make promises they are not able to keep.

    Advice to Management

The executive team, along with the office support staff are good people. The owner is an awful person. I hope they can keep their dignity and their morals working for that man,
