    Pros

Collaboration amongst employees and upper management

    Cons

Once HP took over the overall experience was not the best especially when Palm was essentially shut down and a lot of good people were out of a job.

I worked at Palm full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Excellent tech, good atmosphere, cutting edge stuff.

    Cons

We essentially lost a year switching from java to javascript. That put us into the market behind the iphone instead of in front of it. Worse, we lost market positioning when we introduced without suitable prep at the carrier stores. From there it was a slow slide downhill. Selling to HP was a miserable shift.

Oh, and the company is dead now.

    Advice to Management

Putting java in a small embedded device was a bad idea. No one who's tried that has succeeded. There was plenty of data prior to suggest that was a bad idea but hey, I went with it too. We did have a good group of people. If anyone could have done it, we could.

I worked at Palm full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great working place with team spirit. No performance review, hence, no pay raise!

    Cons

Not all cylinders are firing the same time - cross divisional cooperations are not the best

    Pros

Talented hardware designers and software engineers. Everyone was passionate and focused on making great products. Also a fun place to be.

    Cons

HP. HP brought with it the worst CEO ever (Leo A), I guess HP coming in gave everyone (including myself) a year to look for another job.

    Advice to Management

HP should focus on making great products, it used to be such an innovative company; now their slogan is "it's all about the bottom line", it's not encouraging to work at a place like that.

I worked at Palm full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Highly skilled people, deep expertise, and highly passionate.
Many areas still had motivated people trying to achieve good outcomes, especially once the open sourcing effort began.

    Cons

Dysfunctional leadership from HP, resulting in no viable direction as a commercial entity.
Many of the best people had already left.

    Pros

I spent almost a decade at Palm. The best thing i learnt there is how to obsess about customer experience. Those are lessons for life.

    Cons

Palm saw a lot of ups and downs over those years, and never had a multi-year run of good news. Things would get shaky pretty quickly
