I have been working at Palo Alto Networks

    Pros

Compensation and benefits are good. Great products. Like the vision of the new CEO and where the company is going.

    Cons

No regular promotion Employee hardwork is not being recognized even though they say so. Pressure is being passed from the top to the front end employee. No Work life balance at all in some accounting and finance teams.

    Advice to Management

Do not promote people to management level because they have been in the company longer than others. Please evaluate their management skills before promoting them.

I worked at Palo Alto Networks full-time for more than a year

    Pros

When I first started it was the RSU that brought me over. The company is doing great but there are more cons than its worth

    Cons

There is absolutely no work life balance. Once they stopped issuing RSUs yearly even though you had an outstanding rating, my salary was not market rate. Same rating 2 years in a row, 70% reduction in RSU allocation. Too many layers of managers. All decision are made from top down even though you are in the trenches and know how to solve the issues. A lot of their Sales Ops folks that get stuff done has left the... company.

    Advice to Management

Treat your employees fairly in Sales Ops. The mentality is pay them the least as possible and work them to the ground. A statement one of the Director said to the managers.

    Pros

Amazing Executives Always learning something new Great technology Work with bright individuals

    Cons

No work life balance AT ALL No real recognition for the hours you put in Only certain people move up the ranks, need to "kiss up" and be within that special group/circle Favoritism runs deep, friends give promotions and raises to other friends HR is useless, they don't and honestly can't do anything about the issues Compensation is a joke. Only hope you have of making real money is through the stock. But even... then, only upper management gets the real chunk of shares and bonuses paid to them Management cant be trusted in many teams. Of course, there are great managers there but overall you need to watch your own. Lies and bending the truth is unfortunately too common.

    Advice to Management

Unfortunate how a great company can have so many internal issues within the teams. There are amazing teams/people there but also many toxic teams/people

    Pros

    Just an avg company pros

    Cons

A lot of Micro-management No work life balance, it's only work work work! Expect to come on weekends too and all they have to offer is a free Pizza! A lot of politics, and not good enough perks. You are not valued and neither are your opinions.

    Advice to Management

    Please don't micro-manage.

    Pros

Free snacks, rec rooms, gym. Great product fast growing company, though the middle management are inexperienced in dealing with this kind of growth. Lots of smart people, though lots of slackers as well.

    Cons

The company remains unprofitable, large stock-based compensation and a growing deferred revenue balance are the driving forces. People joining two years ago made big money with stock/RSU. This company is generous in stock/RSU but terrible in base salary and benefits(compared with CISCO, Juniper). People joining in recent two years are suffering, with low salary, less stock/RSU, and no work life balance. The... revenue guidance called for a slowdown during the fourth quarter and share prices continued to tumble. The party is over. It's too late to join the party. Don't come.

    Advice to Management

Please make the company profitable first. No need to construct a new office when you can lease.

I have been working at Palo Alto Networks full-time

    Pros

RSUs appreciated when i first started Close to my place - commute is <30 minutes Open kitchen filled with snacks Easy access to cafeteria downstairs Co-workers are friendly and nice

    Cons

Middle management has no understanding of how things work since they were hired from old dinosaur companies like Cisco No work life balance in finance or accounting especially during quarter end People who hardly do any work get all the credit while the ones who actually do the work do not get any recognition No chance of promotion despite putting in the most work out of the team Inability to manage the... headcount growth of the company No support from managers until the process breaks too many times Put in a situation you can never win since the numbers keep changing on a constant basis Ageism

    Advice to Management

Learn how to distribute work evenly across teams - too many slackers doing the minimal work Quit playing politics and try to understand the issue at hand with failed processes Listen to your employees when they have suggestions for process improvements regardless if they are senior or not Stop blaming the wrong people or start sharing the blame as a team - it's not one person's fault the process is broken

I worked at Palo Alto Networks full-time for more than a year

    Pros

The Company is doing very well. The product is innovative. Compensation package is competitive.

    Cons

I can't speak for the other departments but stay away from the Accounting department. There is no work life balance. Very micromanagement like. To be honest, although there are so much to do, there is not much value added learning involved. A lot of it is very mundane manual excel work. It's very messy, with a lot of extra unnecessary work. Because it is time consuming, management's strategy is to throw bodies... at the problem vs. implementing changes that can eliminate manual processes.
