Processes can be weak at times, but that can work to your advantage if you're looking to get something done in a short window

    Negative Outlook

I worked at Paltalk full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Some dedicated, smart, persistent co-workers
    Talented marketing team
    Profitable business
    Fully paid health insurance

    Cons

Losing users, market share and profitability rapidly
Lack of consistent, coherent product strategy
Disorganized, dysfunctional management with no adherence to an org chart
    Antiquated technology that frequently fails
Crucial company functions are in the hands of outside consultants
Employees rewarded more for loyalty and tenure than ability and performance
    Stingy vacation policy
Company culture is startlingly different from younger, more successful start ups
    Depressing office location

    Advice to Management

Address the weaknesses in the business instead of using spin to make everything seem rosy. Treat tenured and new employees with the same respect. Revamp the technology. Adhere to an organizational chart and use hierarchy to help execute on a coherent business plan. Stop rewarding employees who don't pull their own weight and contribute to the business's success. Incentivize performance instead of loyalty. Have a more transparent performance management system.

  4. "Good - but team organization needs work"

Former Employee - Anonymous Employee in New York, NY

    Pros

Flexible working arrangements; stability - their products have a solid user base; opportunity to learn new technologies if the project permits

    Cons

Some issues with team structure which can lead to some team members being over-stretched. If those members are central to the project succeeding then obviously this is a problem. Those members can end up being less available to help and share knowledge.

    Advice to Management

More investment in procedures is needed to help curb the problems outlined above.

I have been working at Paltalk full-time

    Pros

The company is small and well organized, at least recently. It has some management issues in the past but seems much better now. The business is profitable and user base seems solid and there are plenty of things to do to make it better.

    Cons

There are no much cons recently but company was overmanaged in the past and that caused some issues with people making some things to find that nobody needs them after.
