I have been working at Panduit full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Good vacation/sick time policy. Fair wages.

    Cons

A clear, unbiased occurance policy was replaced by a vague "at the managers discretion" policy for any issue.
Management has layed the ground work for encouraging older, slower workers with seniority to leave Panduit by way of comparison to young, fast, and careless workers to determine rate.
Some of the newer managers still seem to lack the required degree of maturity for the position.
Glassdoor is no longer a good site for rank and file hourly workers to post reviews. Most of the reviews are posted by corporate people trying to improve their position in the company. Some do this to make the company appear to be a better place to work by increasing the number of favorable reviews . These reviews have skewed the overall rating to favor the company inaccurately.

    Advice to Management

Do a much better job of practicing those cultural beliefs you talk about. With a strong emphasis on "Earn Trust" Hourly workers do not trust you as much as you appear to believe. Don't waste any more money on engagement surveys as they are structured to make it more difficult to voice less than "positive" views thus making it more difficult to give honest answers to the questions.
To HR: Abandon the practice of only addressing the reviews that paint a glowing picture of Panduit here on Glassdoor.

    I worked at Panduit full-time

    Pros

    Interesting work at times.
    Good pay.

    Cons

    - Promotes people into important Manager positions based on tenure, not qualifications. Think pointy-haired boss.
    - Manager harped on perceived weaknesses and ignored strengths, ignoring workplace studies that show that employees flourish with praise and withdraw with verbal beatings. Going to HR wasn't a real possibility because HR is part of the problem and seems to only care about protecting the company.
    - Questionable ethics regarding software licenses.

    Advice to Management

    - Encourage Managers to truly empower their employees, not abuse them.
    - Evaluate your promotion guidelines closely, major players are in roles with minimal education and experience, just because they've been at the company a while.
    - Have HR be more than an advocate for the company. Have them actually help their employees.

    I worked at Panduit full-time

    Pros

beautiful, clean building, free parking, close to i-80, good for south suburb folks and northern indiana, free coffee

    Cons

the main one is fear over being the next person to have your job eliminated. fear motivates people but it does not bring out their best.

    Advice to Management

since you have not been able to create a culture of trust that you need to grow at the rate you want, go back to the ways the founder ran things which worked well...for decades. sincerely, I hope you can

I worked at Panduit full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Excellent pay and benefits.

    Work life balance average

    Cons

Executives and employees unwilling to change

    Advice to Management

The change management training was excellent, but the entire management team has no idea how to implement the changes into their everyday decisions. The company lacks the motivation to truly change any of their entrenched processes or tools.

New ideas are only given cursory consideration.

    I worked at Panduit full-time

    Pros

Good pay and benefits, private company, many internal opportunities, new office in Tinley Park, nice people, good R&D facility

    Cons

Extremely risk averse, conservative "old school" thinking, business units are non collaborative, no work from home flexibility, inability to attract new talent due to location, wasted time due to internal pushback on budget approvals, meetings for the sake of having meetings, frequent upper management shifts that cause daily position responsibilities to change

    Advice to Management

Be more open to new people and ideas. Try not to put the C-level and VPs on a pedestal. Be more collaborative with the people on the streets. Have more fun with your team! If you are going to spend time on an initiative to change things, take it seriously.

    Pros

The pay is higher than average for the same position in other companies

    Cons

You will earn it. Deadlines give little to no thought to work life balance

    Advice to Management

While claiming to be leading edge, Your over burdened policies and reluctance to make key decisions are keeping you from being able to innovate. You are falling further and further behind those companies that are willing to take more risk.

I worked at Panduit full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Consistent work, clear expectations. Worked there for 5 years first 2 years were pretty good. Last 3 years management changed, things went downhill at the central Waterhouse. Getting in trouble for petty things. Errors are ridiculous.

    Cons

    Errors are not fair.
Petty management. Changed vacation and sick policy over time. Made it worse for employees. Management is a joke. Lack a sense of valuing longer time dedicated employees

    Advice to Management

I worked at Panduit full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Collectively some of the nicest people. Competetive Pay for Southside company

    Cons

    Poor accountability.

    The personification of Groupthink.

Track record of creating an environment where most of the best talent has come and gone due to frustation, disorganization, consistantly changing targets, or failed commitments of promisses that are often not delivered.

Very much steeped in the buddy system and nepotism where employees that are liked or buddies of executives are given passes on poor performance in terms of the results that they deliver.

Matrix leadership is so convoluted that change management is extremely slow and often ineffective.

Turnover is VERY high for, at least at headquarters.

There is a lot of “leadership” from people without the educational or professional experience to justify their standing in the roles they hold.

Unwilling to make necessary investments in resources and people to achieved stated goals… not walking the walk. Expectations to drive $100M of results with fraction of necessary inputs to achieved stated goals thus resulting in many who are over worked and/or anxious about their job security.

Resistance to align various organizations to assure proper strategic alignment of stated objectives…. Too many people self-interested in their own power centers.

Lastly, this is a company that has collectively failed to acknowledge the commodization of its products and there is not enough differentiation of its products and offerings that justify its historic price premiums. This does not bode well for long term growth and sustainability of the company in its current structure which means that a major change in the business formation is inevitable with the current offerings.
