I worked at Panduit full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

    - great benefits, 401K etc.
    - lower rank coworkers are very nice, very Midwestern
    - headquarter building is beautiful

    Cons

    - if you aren't in the "in-crowd" cliques you get overlooked for promotion or civility, just like back in high school
    - management fills open positions with anyone internally just to fill the position because they don't have time to look for qualified people. People are getting positions and working on projects that know nothing about the subject or position they have just been re-assigned/promoted
    - Many employees despite recognition program are terribly negative.

    Advice to Management

Take a good look at your director and VP level managers and review their people skills. Cliques are absolutely horrible and are killing morale. Culture of accountability is not working as employees are doing it just because they have to, to managements faces, behind your back they think its a joke. Employee attitudes are absolutely horrible!

I have been working at Panduit part-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Continually growing at a better than market pace. Gaining share from competition, earning customer preferences and remaining competitive in a difficult market

    Cons

Sometimes this growth comes at the expense of good people that have given their entire careers to the company. The Quality of some products have suffered due to globalization

    Advice to Management

Get back to your roots when the employee truly felt like the company's greatest asset.

    Pros

Nice building, cool cafeteria, opportunity for overtime.

    Cons

EXTREMELY micro-managed. Like, monitor how much time you are taking on your bathroom break, mico-managed. They are always pulling you into a room to review your recorded phone calls. "You need to say MAY I", etc. Would genuinely get nervous pulling into work every morning. CEO sent out random email about not liking Obama? It was weird.....

    Advice to Management

I would say pay your employees better but no one cares.

I worked at Panduit (More than a year)

    Pros

good folks, much of whom have had long careers

    Cons

a few bad apples in management
lacking the older style of development from within has established some bad attitudes towards new management hires, such that they don't know the culture

    Advice to Management

if an independent survey suggest a group manager isn't liked, get that person straightened out or just out

    Pros

stable company, OK benefits, schedule pressures are minimal

    Cons

management is very slow to make a decision. The company focus is all about sales and not developing new products. The engineering groups are turning into all product managers and program managers who are not open to any new ideas.

    Advice to Management

Go back to the company roots as an engineering and manufacturing company.

    Pros

Decent pay, easy work, clean environment, no toxic fumes or metal shavings like other factories.

    Cons

Many employees, especially those they are of higher stature, do not care about the company and try to get away with doing as little work as possible. If you are a hard worker, this can be very frustrating.

    Advice to Management

Get middle management that actually cares about the company, this will increase the morale and productivity of your employees significantly.
