I worked at Panera Bread part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I was given opening shifts so I had to be there at 5:30 am which was not the most fun. Management was fair though they understood the importance of balancing school and work.

    Cons

The customers were ridiculous at times. They were highly demanding for a restaurant of that style. There were times when more employees were needed on shift to accommodate the rushes.

    Advice to Management

Be more mindful of busy times and have more people work. The company is doing well so I imagine there is plenty of wiggle room to add to the labor budget.

I worked at Panera Bread (More than a year)

    Pros

Nice and friendly associates, coffee, decent wages

    Cons

Disorganized management, stressful environment, care more about ticket times than quality or happiness of employees, understaffed

    Advice to Management

Train management from within instead of hiring from outside, have managers work on line until comfortable and able to keep up with other associates,

I worked at Panera Bread full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Fast paced, flexible management

Days usually go by quickly. The staff is very close knit, despite the expected amount of drama. Managers are easy to talk to and usually respond well to comments or criticism. Discount on food during your shift.

    Cons

    Low pay, inconsistent hours

As in most restaurants, the pay is low and you are generally not allowed to take tips (well, it is frowned upon, you're asked to direct customers to put the tip in the food bank jar). Some people had issues getting the number of hours they wanted, but generally schedules were made with effort and skill in mind.

    Advice to Management

Try to resist (or at least hide) having "favorite" employees. It becomes easy to point out who is and who isn't favored and puts unnecessary pressure on your team.

I have been working at Panera Bread full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Working in IT, you are pretty much free to drive your product.

    Cons

As a non IT organization, it's sometimes hard to get things done or for some to realize business value of a proposal.

    Advice to Management

stop hiring management from big organizations. They do not know how to be agile.

I worked at Panera Bread full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I loved working at Panera Bread for the most part. I made long time friends, enjoyed the food, received positive feedback, received a raise, and enjoyed company parties. It did get a little stressful as an associate but it was a decent job I didn't dread going to.

    Cons

The pay was definitely not ideal, the hours were long, and you spent a decent amount of time on your feet. Management had favorites but we all got along and everyone was there for you if there came a time you needed anything.

    Advice to Management

I know it can be difficult to not play favorites but it's important to make all employees feel equal. You did do a great job working around every person's schedule and there was never a day off I needed that I didn't receive.
