I worked at Panera Bread part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    - Customer Satisfaction was the most important
    - Easy to call time off few months prior
    - Great consistency with food
    - Managers always made sure everything was thoroughly taught to employees

    Cons

    - Bad Management
    - Scheduling Mess ups
    - Lazy employers and employees
    - Only allowed time off sick if you had a doctor's note
    - Lack of communication

    Advice to Management

It is important to keep up protocol even if it means more work. This is a food business, and there is a reason why the Food Inspector has flagged this location plenty of times. Regardless of the drama amongst peers, this is work and is supposed to remain that way. If employees complain about additional work, stop hiring lazy and slacking employees. It is good to have maintained a good image in front of customers but behind closed doors everything is a disaster. Write people up if you have to. Stop playing the friend too much. This job is supposed to require customer service and discipline. It felt like walking into a place that you get paid with drama you'd find in high school.

I have been working at Panera Bread part-time

    Pros

The employees were super polite. I walked into my interview appointment 15 minutes early and they saw that I was waiting. So, they offerered me water and a free cookie. Plus, the managers weren't intimidating at all! They were super friendly and caring,

    Cons

Really the only con was that both of my interviews were scheduled on really busy days so it was hard trying to find a quiet place to do the interview

I worked at Panera Bread full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The pay. The pay. The pay.

    Cons

Everything else. You have no chance of being cross trained in production unless you're Hispanic. Constantly understaffed; cashiers have to make their own coffee drinks and smoothies, which drastically holds a line if only one register is open. Management rarely helps. Have to "engage" customers in a phony script and ask customers a thousand questions - would you like to try our new breakfast sandwich, would you like to know the ingredients in your salad/sandwich/drink, will this be for here/go, would you like a drink, would you like a pastry, do you have a rewards card. Constantly asked five minutes before the end of my shift if I could stay because someone called off.

    Advice to Management

Stop with the twenty questions game cashiers have to play with customers. I know Panera is expensive and all; however, it's still a fast food joint and one thing I know is that people hate to wait unnecessarily.

I worked at Panera Bread part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

I loved working at Panera. I have a newborn daughter and they were very flexible with my schedule. I only did cash, which was dealing with customers, doing our cleaning duties, and occasionally helping out other employees. It comes with benefits and you can move up easily.

    Cons

Management clearly shows favoritism; they always ask if you can stay longer.

    Advice to Management

    Treat every employee fair.
