I worked at Panera Bread full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Fun and you can have a great work family.

    Cons

They are short staffed in most of the cafes. Very stressful when the cafes isn't running right. Worked more than 50 hours a week almost all the time.

    Advice to Management

The way you talk to people counts for everything.

I worked at Panera Bread full-time

    Pros

Not too much to say here. Pay and bonus was decent.

    Cons

Long hours, no home life. Basically working constantly even when home. Blatent sexism and racism among upper management. Was ordered to fire employees based on their looks. Was terminated when I refused. Turnover is high due to constant sexual harassment and games by upper management. Currently filing with the EEOC. They have been sued before for this stuff.

    Advice to Management

Take a close look at your district managers and figure out why the turnover is so high. End sexism and racism in your management staff.

I worked at Panera Bread full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Great coworkers
Very nice discount, it is encouraged to try everything on the menu
    Good company values

    Cons

    Hard, tiring work
    Early and late hours

    Advice to Management

I pretty much always had positive experiences with my managers. They were always willing to listen if I had a problem, and were quick to resolve it. They promoted from within first, which is something I value.

I worked at Panera Bread (More than a year)

    Pros

Discount, Co-workers were all very nice, closing environment was fun, and you got to see how food was made and try the menu.

    Cons

Rush hours were awful because we were understaffed most of the time.

    Advice to Management

Staff your shifts so each associate has only one area of work. More training in the beginning would have been nicer as well.

I worked at Panera Bread part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Relaxing, Calm, Work Enviroment - Most of the time. Everyone worked together and they did try to have some motivation for teamwork.

    Cons

No reason to try to stay and workup. They seem to chew people up and spit them out after a few years.

I knew people who had worked there for years and had worked there Butts off! Yet they had only got a dollar or so raise from the fresh workers.

    Advice to Management

Figure out a way to pay your workers as much as Mcdonalds. The service you are expecting to give to your customers goes way beyond a simple Mcd's mentality. If you want to clean up after everyone and make their stay as nice as possible - make sure you appropriately compensate your workers.

Give a clear vision of how to move up in the company.

Don't over work your managers & burn them out.

Give awards or recognition for outstanding performance - not just a slap on the back.

I have been working at Panera Bread part-time

    Pros

Panera has awesome food but is a bit pricey & should offer employees free meals like Chipotle does

    Cons

Disrespectful, arrogant management. Unorganized.staff. Senior management avoids employees until they need something.

    Advice to Management

You have to give respect to receive it. Be leaders not managers or "dictators"

    Pros

Its an okay job i would say. It was my first job actually. so if your looking for a first job starter i would recommend this. All i can say though is that they worked me like a DOG! to where my feet had blisters on them. Honestly there is alot of drama behind close doors. But i just kept to myself, and just took care of the customers. I like the job. But just had me do SOOOO much because they are always short of help. And it wasn't worth it, they wasn't paying me that much for everything they wanted me to do.

    Cons

    Had me do too much

I have been working at Panera Bread full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Working with clean food
    Good discount
Employees have a lot of freedom to make guests happy
    Flexible scheduling

    Cons

    Poor pay
Sometimes rude customers because of the high prices
Poor management is really hard to ignore
Care more about profits than the human beings that work for them

    Advice to Management

Get with the times and pay people more. Make an effort to listen to the employees that are in the thick of it everyday and make improvements where needed.

    Pros

Salary is not what it should be, on lower range for hours worked.

    Cons

Upper management is not always aware of what's happening, promoting is not always what it should be.

    Advice to Management

Focus always. Pay attention to what the district manager wants at all times.
