I have been working at Panjiva full-time

    Pros

Panjiva is the ideal place to work -- my colleagues in the engineering office are genuine, kind, brilliant people, and global trade data is truly fascinating. Our leadership team is very serious about mentorship and employee growth, and there are significant opportunities to grow and be promoted. The company is big enough to have an impact on the world, but small enough that you can have a big impact on the company. Perks and benefits are excellent, Kendall Square location is great, and I truly love coming to work every day.

    Cons

The hours can be long, but leadership is very flexible about scheduling to accommodate personal needs.

I worked at Panjiva full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Panjiva is a truly a one of a kind place to work. If help is needed anyone in the company will really stop and try their best without hesitation. The pay is great and competitive. The office is hard working but very close knit/welcoming. Perfect balance of fun and career growth potential. A lot of companies falsely preach a horizontal open door policy with their organizational structure, Panjiva actually practices this thoroughly. Everyone is accessible and speaks to you as an equal, especially the CEO, Josh. Lastly, my favorite thing would have to be how much Panjiva embraces and thrives with female leadership. I've been in 3 companies in New York City and it was the only time I've seen this. Do yourself a favor and apply.

    Cons

It would be good to see more integration between teams.

    Pros

Other reviews have mentioned it, but Panjiva really is a great place to work because of the people. It's an open office layout, and people are very friendly and all generally get along. Many here are friends with one another outside work, and it's common for groups of people from different teams to get together for drinks or other activities outside of the office.

The pay is very good when compared to other startups and small companies. The CEO values the talent here and you can tell that management cares about retaining good employees.

Management has a very 'open-door' style, and they are generally willing to listen to the ideas of anyone within the organization regardless of title.

    Cons

Strategic direction can be a bit impatient. A common recurring issue is that management will move onto the next item without focusing improving the core product.

Power is consolidated to 3 major players in management, and there's sometimes a lack of transparency in terms of direction.

Company is experiencing growing pains, which trickles down to vertical mobility, strategic decisions, and communication.

    Advice to Management

Improve roadmap for younger employees to grow within the organization, and create positions where tenured and competent employees can give feedback and also have authority to make strategic decisions.

I worked at Panjiva full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

If company culture is high on your list of important things at the work place, Panjiva will not disappoint. The positive work environment keeps morale way up and makes coming into work that much more rewarding.

They take the time to carefully decide who joins their team, and I think they've done a great job of selecting a group of individuals who work well together to meet personal and company goals.

The product is a powerful tool for the trade industry-- you get to speak with decision makers at interesting companies all over the world and get a peek into importing going-ons in global trade. How you use this to your advantage is up to you.

One of the better benefits packages. Good number of PTO days, good insurance, have transitchek, offer quarterly "education dollars", and expenses.

Nice neighborhood to work in (Flatiron). The team often gets together after work for drinks. Lots of snacks, too!

    Cons

Although I personally think it is a pro, if you're the type of person that doesn't like mingling with office mates and attending company parties often, this might not be the place for you.

    Advice to Management

Keep nurturing your team members the way you have been!

    No opinion of CEO

    Pros

Fun work environment full of young people.

    Cons

This company is not serious about making any money or growing as a "startup". They are more concerned with maintaining a small nucleus of friends in senior management positions. There is no chance of making it from a Sales Development Rep to an Account Executive in a timely manner. Apply for an Account Management job - you'll be treated very well by the inner circle even though you bring no money to the company.

    Advice to Management

You have a serious churn problem. Stop hiring young people just to fire them because they didn't hit a meetings target in an unrealistic amount of time. It's fine to hire people with limited experience in order to justify low pay, but you need to invest in their growth in order to get any return.

I have been working at Panjiva full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Interesting industry. People who work here are generally very smart and care about what they do.

    Cons

Management team is apathetic and less qualified than the people they manage. No real growth potential.

    Advice to Management

Create more of a meritocracy rather than simply rewarding people who have been at the company longest.
