-flexible schedule -autonomy -exposure up the ladder -opportunities to take on new and challenging work -growing firm -great people -decent benefits
Cons
-compensation below market -not merit based promoting, tenure is the driven for promotions -title is not representative of your responsibility. You’ll be operating at a higher level with more responsibility than your title shows

Not Flexible/ Management Insular/ Political rather than Commercial

Global firm, disciplined process to creating roadmaps for clients, made good friends - some very lovely people work at the firm - the firm has some terrific clients in Europe. The client service team in Europe is very strong as is the Asian investment team on the primary side.
Cons
The track record of "so so" investment performance speaks for itself as does the level of employee turnover, especially in the sales and marketing area as they have a tough job, and the number of former employees now very successful elsewhere in other asset management franchises. Lost very good investment and commercial talent over the years. Dissension from senior partners' viewpoints will get you fast-tracked out of the firm - not open to much debate - "yes man" oriented culture - senior partners solidified power many years ago and there has not been any "move" to change power - Pantheon is consistently behind the curve of other FoFs. Pantheon IT development/implementation/spend and Pantheon operations historically was a business case study in "how not to do it" but hopefully it has improved. Some good people but not great leadership/direction. Need more people with real knowledge of technology

Pantheon is an exceptionally enjoyable place to work, and the managers are amazing.

A fun but professional, apolitical and balanced culture. The work hours were reasonable, and I found everyone was very tightly knit as a group. Staff across all levels get plenty of exposure to senior managers.
Cons
It all depends on whether you like fund-of-funds work. If you are happy performing the work, you'll find no better firm at which to do it.

Frankly an amazing place to work with great people

Everything - as a firm they have an excellent culture, coworkers spend time outside of work to socialize because they genuinely like each other, and I've retained friendships long after working here.
Cons
The work itself can be a bit wrote and is more focused on asset management than deep dives into companies. However as a firm, there really isn't anything negative i think you can say.

Pros
Very nice people with a friendly culture. Most employees became friends with each other and that was apparent in day-to-day culture.
Cons
Firm is very top heavy, with too many senior people leaning on too few junior people (sometimes can cause frustration with over-worked junior employees). Salary / Bonus / Promotion process was not as transparent as it should be.

Pros
Firm has a long history of managing PE and VC fund of funds. Many longstanding relationships with clients and PE/VC firms across the globe.
Cons
The keys to a successful career are largely based on which team you join and the office location. Principal offices are London and SF. The London office holds significant sway over the firm. Ownership by AMG adds another layer of complexity to the firms culture.

Pros
Pantheon is a fine establishment. There is scope for progression if you are in the right place at the right time, which does not make it unique. The vast majority of people are incredibly open and approachable with their time
Cons
Very few cons. There can be a tendency for senior people to not relinquish ever, which does lead to political developments behind the scenes.

Pros
They do host some fun office events from time to time and don't mind spending money on those events apparently.
Cons
Backstabbing people are rewarded, good people are forced out. Lobby looks nice but actual offices are gross. No pride in work or development of others.

- Some good people - Flexible working
Cons
- No career development - Comp below market average + no meritocracy - Absolute class and race ceiling - Terrible leadership - lots of box ticking. i.e. diversity and inclusion is talked about a lot but is just fluff and PR....they dont give a damn about it really!! - Small group of Partners who are the 'chosen ones' literally have free reign to do what they want and are just nasty bullies - Pantheon does not care about employees...just want you to shut up and do the work - Lots of people there doing zero work and paid more than the ones who actually add value just because they massage the right egos - Arrogant leadership who think the firm is better than it really is
