I worked at Paperchase Products full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Staff discount Fun products Nice colleges Good bonus scheme for management Good if the only management skills you possess are being obsequious to Head office/ higher management and bullying

    Cons

Being treated like a lower class citizen Spoken to rudely Constant fight with head office teams regard stock, budgets eta Poor communication, lack of social skills and bullying from head office and higher managers Loads of faulty products upsets/ angers customers Unrealistic expectations Low pay Head office departments hardly know what's going on, it's like being led by chickens

    Advice to Management

You are doing a very good job at making your managers feel unmotivated and unwanted. Head office should work with the managers, not against them- you wonder whether you work for the same company. Bullying/ hard nose culture has to stop, the company sells kids products and greetings cards- it's not Gucci and paperchase does not nearly pay the same and the customer is not the same. It's very to be hard nosed while... selling a shaped eraser. Think about which personal type suits your customer. Plus someone will take legal action soon, some of the behaviours displayed by your regional managers are horrid! Always on a basic hour rota, meaning as a manager you were also a full time sales assistant. Work was always unmanageable often I felt bad for having to push the assistants so hard and if anyone called in sick you would be impossibly stretched. Stop opening new stores and focus on the ones you have-disgusting back of houses with inadequate stockrooms, staff rooms, wash facilities often leaving the manager to go against H&S regulations. If you like to eat lunch at a decent time, have sufficient time to eat dinner, wash and sleep before your next shift don't work here.

I worked at Paperchase Products full-time for less than a year

    Pros

The stock is beautiful. There is nothing nice I can say apart from that tbh

    Cons

They steal images from artists and palm them off . The management are like school bullies and if you face doesn't fit they will find some way of getting you out...even the hr team are corrupted. The paperwork is a joke...constantly doing this led to no other work being done.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your staff. They are not a number they are people. Stop thinking about how you could make more money and get back to basics with employee relations

I have been working at Paperchase Products full-time

    Pros

Amazing 50% discount Fun place to work

    Cons

Good wages for sales assistants but managers pay is massively behind the rest of the high Street and once you reach store manager level there is no further training and development

    Advice to Management

Encourage your highly skilled managers to stay in the business by paying better wages and give us further opportunities to develop and progress

I worked at Paperchase Products full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Great product, generous discount, fantastic teams to work with. Outside of the London area, great opportunities to progress and find your strengths.

    Cons

In recent years with upper management changes the culture and tone of the company has changed. It has become more corporate, less friendly, less "Paperchase". Genuine talent replaced with yes men/women.

    Advice to Management

Appreciate the staff who have been with you for years. Listen to those who have the experience, who deal everyday with your product and the customers who buy those products. Value your staff that have a genuine loyalty and passion for your brand, invest in your people. Finally think about using your staff as a focus group for your launching ranges, we know what will sell and what will go straight into sale.
