I have been working at Paradise Valley Hospital part-time

    Pros

The hospital staff is amazing to work with and the environment is fast paced and exciting.

I have been working at Paradise Valley Hospital full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Some employees have been with the company for years and are dedicated and hard workers who genuinely care about the work they do. 401K, free exercise classes

    Cons

Bullying in some departments with no intervention from management or administration. Medical benefits are not that great, and you have to use doctors you work with; lack of privacy with your healthcare. Administration appears open to hearing feedback from employees, but rarely responds. Dedicated workers can feel disregarded and unappreciated.

    Advice to Management

Please listen when employees have feedback or advice. Don't play favorites--especially when it comes to nepotism, which runs rampant in the hospital. There also appears to be cultural and religious favoritism

I worked at Paradise Valley Hospital full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

There are still some employees that care about the hospital and care about the patients.

    Cons

This hospital was previously owned by a non-profit organization and at that time was a great place to work. It was bought out by Prime Healthcare and has gone downhill since. They are all about cutting corners and hiring unqualified/inexperienced people who will work for less $ or not giving adequate pay to the good workers they have so the qualified employees leave for more $, putting the patients at risk. Top management do not know what is going on in the hospital and are incompetent.

    Advice to Management

Support long time employees and don't skimp on staffing so you can make more money. It is first a hospital. Hire qualified staff and pay them well so they don't leave.

I worked at Paradise Valley Hospital part-time

    Pros

Wonderful atmosphere. I worked in the psychiatric unit as a social worker. The staff made a great team. The job demands were reasonable without being overwhelming. The cafeteria has great food. Excellent doctors (except for the Medicaid doctors (see below)

    Cons

The doctors who only served Medicaid patients were incompetent. I watched them insult and verbally abuse patients. They had large files documenting these incidents but no one else would do their job so they were never fired. They processed patients as fast as possible to make the most money, since Medicaid pays half as much for psychiatric services. Very sad.

    Pros

    Generally nice people on surface.

    Cons

When it comes to patient assignment or emergency situation, it is the truth of the moment. As a weekend part timer, I always assigned of list of new patient or hard core patient regardless my skill or ability. If you don't look like local or speak as local in national city, you have no idea what staff are talking about around you.

    Advice to Management

Request all professional boundary or respect to all managers.

I worked at Paradise Valley Hospital full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Most people are really nice on the surface. The boss and nurse supervisors are nice.

    Cons

Lazy CNA's. They don't want to do their jobs. Leaving patients unturned and messy. Patient's are not getting fed even! Disgusting! Expect the RN's to do everything. One CNA told me she didn't want to float to the top floor because they expect her to work up there!

They don't allow anyone to transfer units anymore because management is going crazy over union activities. Everyone had to sign a paper saying they wouldn't sue. People who didn't sign were fired on the spot. They monitored employees activity even going to union meetings which was against the law. They are very disrespectful to employees. Some charge nurses who were anti union got pro-union people fired. No support.

    No racial diversity. It's ridiculous!

    Advice to Management

Fire people who are lazy! Why keep them around? All the good people left because we can get a better job elsewhere where support staff know how to do their jobs! Hire staff from different backgrounds. You are going to get sued if you continue to discriminate!
