I worked at Paradise Valley Hospital full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Consistent schedule made it easy to have a life outside of work.

    Cons

The company seems to cut corners at every turn.
Salaries max out pretty quickly, so no real incentive to stay.

    Advice to Management

    Value all cultures equally.

I have been working at Paradise Valley Hospital full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Scheduling and staff members are the only positive for this hospital.

    Cons

Lack of appreciation of hard working staff members. Ancillary staff all have a feeling of disrepaect and not cared for by leadership as a RN is. They do not want a union in this hospital even tho that maybe the best option, even if it only benefits the RN's.Lack of security and safety of staff, lowest paying wages of all hospitals in San Diego county. The staff is expected to go above and beyond for little to no appreciation from senior leadership, staff always is wondering what changes and job cuts may be coming next. Staff in emergency room is constantly telling senior leadership the need for more security due to employee injuries from patients, this all goes ignored.

    Advice to Management

Have a better relationship with staff, stand up for your good employees and show some appreciation. Also make sure your employees are safe to the true definition of safe not what the "leadership " feels is safe from the office buildings. Increase wages fairly and become the hospital it used to be. Stop laying everone off and making it unworkable. Stop worrying about a union.

I worked at Paradise Valley Hospital full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good teamwork. No lazy staff. Everyone works to hard to get the job done as soon as possible. Raises were fair. Annual holiday parties are fun to attend.

    Cons

The higher-ups micromanage and focus on cutting costs at the expense of staff. Senior personnel get VIP treatment. Constant revolving door of patients.

    Advice to Management

Stop prioritizing money over quality of care.

I have been working at Paradise Valley Hospital full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Some employees have been with the company for years and are dedicated and hard workers who genuinely care about the work they do. 401K, free exercise classes

    Cons

Bullying in some departments with no intervention from management or administration. Medical benefits are not that great, and you have to use doctors you work with; lack of privacy with your healthcare. Administration appears open to hearing feedback from employees, but rarely responds. Dedicated workers can feel disregarded and unappreciated.

    Advice to Management

Please listen when employees have feedback or advice. Don't play favorites--especially when it comes to nepotism, which runs rampant in the hospital. There also appears to be cultural and religious favoritism

I worked at Paradise Valley Hospital full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

There are still some employees that care about the hospital and care about the patients.

    Cons

This hospital was previously owned by a non-profit organization and at that time was a great place to work. It was bought out by Prime Healthcare and has gone downhill since. They are all about cutting corners and hiring unqualified/inexperienced people who will work for less $ or not giving adequate pay to the good workers they have so the qualified employees leave for more $, putting the patients at risk. Top management do not know what is going on in the hospital and are incompetent.

    Advice to Management

Support long time employees and don't skimp on staffing so you can make more money. It is first a hospital. Hire qualified staff and pay them well so they don't leave.

I worked at Paradise Valley Hospital part-time

    Pros

Wonderful atmosphere. I worked in the psychiatric unit as a social worker. The staff made a great team. The job demands were reasonable without being overwhelming. The cafeteria has great food. Excellent doctors (except for the Medicaid doctors (see below)

    Cons

The doctors who only served Medicaid patients were incompetent. I watched them insult and verbally abuse patients. They had large files documenting these incidents but no one else would do their job so they were never fired. They processed patients as fast as possible to make the most money, since Medicaid pays half as much for psychiatric services. Very sad.
