I have been working at Parago full-time

    Pros

Flexibility with arrival and departure time.

    Cons

Accounting practices change weekly, low priority on work/life balance, political environment.

    Advice to Management

The department is so fast paced that accounting decisions are made without thought to future repercussions, which leads to multiple entries that make the accounting processes difficult to follow. The department needs to be made of people who are capable of work, not just people who get along with one another. Management needs to reassess the processes and procedures to ensure a better work/life balance.

I worked at Parago full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Deep friendships, collaborative culture, transparency and trust

    Cons

Leadership changes too often, culture shift after an acquisition, grew too fast in a hurry - technology fell upon a larger than usual contractor pool

    Advice to Management

Go back to your roots - to behaviors and decisions that made the company successful at one point

    I worked at Parago full-time

    Pros

Fun environment and room to grow. Competitive compensation. Good benefits. Quarterly bonuses.

    Cons

Upper level management uses and abuses lower level employees. Lays off great leaders and keeps dead weight hanging around which ruins the morale of the entire department.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees. When a team works really well together, don't lay off the head of their department and expect them to be okay with it.

I worked at Parago full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Casual atmosphere
    Convenient location
    Many employee social events
Ability to work from home some of the time
    Quarterly bonus program

    Cons

60+ hour work weeks are the rule and not the exception - even the perk of the quarterly bonuses are not enough to cover the time
    Absolutely NO work/life balance.
Consistently unrealistic deadlines often to try to create the vapor-ware touted by Sales
Middle managers have no power to protect their team members
During my tenure, more than one person had to take medical leave due to 'stress-related' illnesses

    Advice to Management

Stop abusing your FTEs and Contractors with mandatory evening and weekend work - plan properly and fund for the necessary resources.
Don't allow upper management to manage using intimidation
