    No opinion of CEO

    Pros

    Flexible work schedule - most development resources are on Moscow and Novosibirsk time, so tele-conferences are usually early morning or very late at night.
    Work Environment - casual, friendly -- never a question of whether you will get the tools and hardware you need to be happy and productive as a developer
    Cool technology - provisioning the "building blocks" which enable cloud computing

    Cons

    Communication is challenging - lack of respect for diverse ideas/opinions, local and remote management not always on same page.
    Goal setting and lack of accountability.
    Career opportunities are limited State-side as a developer.

    Advice to Management

    Keep focus on long term prospects - devotion to targets and metrics are well and good, but take your people (and culture) into account, hold people accountable for mistakes, and continue to reward innovation and initiative. Be more aggressive in the enterprise space. Make a deeper investment in Parallels Automation.

    I have been working at Parallels full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    This company is a leader in its field. Good choise:
    1) If you have some IT-experience and want to grow up (company will pay for your Microsoft and Red Hat exams);
    2) If you want to work in a world-wide comany (most of the engineers are from Russia, but customers are from all over the world);
    3) If you want to gain experience in working with a large service providers and want to understand their internal IT processes (Hosting, VPS and many other services).

    Cons

    1) High barrier to entry;
    2) It's difficult to combine work in Support Department and studying at the University.

    Advice to Management

    Make an advertising company in Russia. I'm talking about the Odin Service Automation. The company is well known abroad, but almost unknown in Russia. Our country is developing in the IT direction. The company will acquire more customers here and in the CIS countries, if Odin tell them about yourself. As result, you get more national service providers as customers and talented engineers as employees.

    I have been working at Parallels full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Parallels is definitely the best place to work at. Started working there as a junior support engineer with literally no experience and grew up to a chief support engineer in 4 years gaining huge variety of skills.

    Working at Parallels you get:
    - Awesome people to work with
    - Interesting and challenging job. Working as a "simple" technical engineer you gain serious skills of a system/infrastructure architect.
    - Wide career opportunities including relocation all over the world
    - Endless field for improvement. Innovations and personal projects are highly valued by management
    - Lots of benefits as gym, corporate transport, food, health insurance, certifications

    Cons

    Despite all the pros there are some cons:
    1) Working as a Support Engineer you have to work 4 days a week - 2 night shifts and 2 day shifts. People who cannot change schedule easily might have a hard time working in support.
    2) Stress. If you deal with clients you have to be prepared to get some stress. Either you become immune to stress and angry customers, or you'll eventually burn out. Working night/day shifts doesn't really help your mental health either.

    Besides these 2 points there is a last, but not least one. Some might consider it a pro, but I think it's a "con" after all. it is difficult to move on. Parallels is such a nice place to work at you will not wish to leave even if your career demands new challenges, some people decide to stop growing and keep doing the same job after many years without any intention to change anything. It's too comforting to stay there.

    Advice to Management

    Please pay more attention to mental health of Support Department. Technical Support Staff has to deal with a huge amount of stress, but very little is done from company's side to help either gain stress-handling skills, or to remove the stress.

    Pros

    Absolutely confident team.
    People are very friendly.
    Great developed processes.
    Expended healthinsurance.
    Millions opportunities to improve skills and climb the ladder.

    Cons

    I'm working in support department. Some people don't like the shift work, but for me it's not a problem.
    Some workflows are really difficult to understand in the beginning.

    Advice to Management

    Keep calm and be the best.

    Pros

    Wide-range opportunities of carrier growth, comfortable working atmosphere, high requirements level, English language everywhere! (note: office in Russia).

    Cons

    Not about Parallels, but the city. It's huge! It takes about 2 hrs to travel from one side to another.
