    Negative Outlook

I have been working at Parasole Restaurant full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Talented and experienced staff, depending on location. Health care if full time. Mobility within the group.

    Cons

Managers are often inept because they make less money than many hourly employees, and therefore the pool to choose from for hiring is scant and full of inexperienced or unprofessional options. The group has adopted a "money-first" way of doing business and their concepts are showing that. Each one doesn't stick to its unique attraction for long and is replaced with lesser versions of itself over and over in attempts...

    Advice to Management

Stick to your guns. Create unique concepts that can be reliably delicious and continue to improve them instead of constantly regressing into shells of restaurants. More thoroughly prune potential hires for management. Management turnover destroys restaurants from the inside out, so having more interviews with candidates and reaching out to their former employers ought to eliminate candidates from the pool that will...

I worked at Parasole Restaurant part-time

    Pros

Great management coming from the top level of the company.

    Cons

Some of their restaurants are open on holidays, traffic is minimal, but they stay open.

    Neutral Outlook

I have been working at Parasole Restaurant for more than 3 years

    Pros

Name/brand power is great for the metro area. Majority of the restaurants in the group are on the radar of people that live in the Twin Cities. I have personally worked in 3 restaurants for the company, and each hold their employees to very high standards which fosters professionalism and the "career server" work ethic. Experience gained from each restaurant allows for internal transfers easily so long as you are...

    Cons

Insurance benefits are expensive. The innovation seems to be lacking lately, no brand refreshes to drive sales and bring people back to the concepts with the surge of restaurants and talent in the area. Scheduling and hours vary per the season and as an hourly employee trying to maintain hours for insurance can be difficult. Also some seasonal shifts are extreme and layoffs are prevalent.

    Advice to Management

Make quarterly reviews more consistent, and if employees have advice at least be receptive to listening to it. I feel like there is a lot of talent in the hourly staff but not always taken seriously and many great opportunities are missed. Figure out a way to gain more power for each restaurant individually and take out the outspoken "top of the totem pole" bring in some fresh ideas to filter down from the top.

I have been working at Parasole Restaurant full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Parasole is committed to taking care of their employees. A 50% discount at ALL Parasole restaurants. Great tips. The BEST managers out there.

    Cons

As a server, the main con is tip inconsistency. I put $20/hour as the "base pay," but on busy weekends I will easily make $30/hour (wage + tips). The new POS system implemented this year kinda sucks.

    Advice to Management

Fire the people who aren't a good team member. If they aren't a good server, get them off the floor so the rest of us can make money
