Talent recruitment, limitations that the size are common among a smaller organization, limited geographic reach, and the competitive landscape with monopoly competitor

I worked at Pardee Hospital full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The RNs are top notch. They are kind, gentle, knowledgeable, capable and caring. Good place to work. I enjoyed my 3 years there. Pardee is expanding and expanding into all phases of healthcare. Overseen by UNC, they are growing into THE place in the Hendersonville area for healthcare.

    Cons

Too much interference by Executive Management with the day to day issues employees face. They don't really know what is going on on the nursing floors, that's why people are leaving in droves, opting for a place to work where they can do what they know how to do without "great new ways of doing things" suggested by Management.

    Advice to Management

Stop with all your great new suggestions and ideas. People know their jobs. Let them do it! Stay out of it. The Executive Management needs to walk around and see what is happening, instead of relying on stupid patient surveys. Get out and LOOK!

I worked at Pardee Hospital (More than a year)

    Pros

Great nurses, opportunities to grow with the company, decent benefits

    Cons

Lazy CNAs, low paying, poor management

    Advice to Management

Don't let go of good staff over petty stuff like being sick, especially when they have a physicians note to be out.

I have been working at Pardee Hospital full-time

    Pros

There are great people here, from administration on down. When concerns arise, they do their best to address them. We have high volume and great surgeons.

    Cons

We're way too busy for a community hospital. Lol

    Advice to Management

Continue what you're doing with an eye to future and taking care of your people now.

Located in the small, quaint town of Hendersonville. Some excellent staff and providers.

    Pros

Great staff, good benefits, and good salary.

    Cons

The hospital could use more staff. Everyone wears multiple hats. People are overworked.

    Advice to Management

Train people probably and hire more staff if the budget allows.

    Pros

Good training process. Good employee benefits such as discounted tickets, dicount at cafeteria(that has excellent food), laundry service and pharmacy.

    Cons

    Pros

    Nice cafeteria
    Lots of parking
    Efficient HR department

    Cons

    Low pay
    Bad health insurance
    Horrible managers

    Advice to Management

There are many Docs, nurses and techs that work heroically to provide safe, effective care for the patients but not all and anything here happens despite the efforts of management. The managers here, from the top to the bottom, are excremental. In a tiny, nominally 100 bed, hospital there is an overabundance of managers. In every department there are managers that labor Bob Cratchet like but then there are the administrative managers that do little to nothing but pay fealty to the CEO. There are managers that bully their workers, another that organizes the lottery and sport pools and one manager that sneaks into their office through an outside entrance, all the better to not meet bothersome fellow employees. That department mainly coasts on the good planning and common sense of the previous manager. The CEO instituted a blame program targeting low performing employees. Employees were blamed for Pardee having the lowest rating of local hospitals. Any fool should know the outcome of such a program but apparently not here. The result was; any workers that could leave did, not all of them low performers and many were nurses. This created a void of workers that exists to this day. Departments operate with a skeleton crew of workers and temps. Ex-employees that live blocks from this hospital drive miles to work at other hospitals and clinics rather than work at Pardee. The county commission should consider hiring an outside contractor to manage the hospital. Since they are already paying a management service to tell the current CEO what to do. This would be a considerable savings in salary and probably a huge increase in effective management and productivity, since all the low performers are not low level employees
