I have been working at Park City Resort full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Very strong relationship amongst team members, due no doubt to not getting much in the manner of fiscal support from the former Powdr ownership group. The PCMR team banded together against adversity and drew strength from that.

    Cons

During the Powdr era, profits went straight to the Powdr ownership group and were not reinvested in the operation at PCMR. This, along with the lawsuit against the landowner (2012-14) caused a huge drop in morale which led to a decline in service levels and overall experience at the company.

    Advice to Management

The ownership change in 2014 was much needed, results of the change are still to be seen, but Powdr had lost respect from many employees during the lawsuit as well as due to their unwillingness to invest in employees in any way shape or form.

    Pros

Fun atmosphere, great people. It's a ski resort, how can you not like it!?!?

    Cons

Management structure kept changing with company acquisitions so never knew who we were or where we were headed.

I have been working at Park City Resort full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    -free pass
    -GREAT co-workers
    -AWESOME management
    -pretty sweet discounts
    -jobs are fun

    Cons

-everybody gets paid really low wages. even my bosses. its bummer because we are operating multi million dollar equipment, and have peoples lives in our hands....
Its certainly alot more responsibility than working in a kitchen (my previous job) and the kitchen pays more.
you would think, considering the amount of money that Vail Resorts rakes in a year...that they would spread some of that love on to the people that make them that money...

    Advice to Management

    ...just pay us more...
    its that simple...
...and "we have a budget" seems to me as if you dont care enough to talk to the big wigs...your bosses, and tell them how it is.

    Pros

Good co-workers, good pay and benefits. Meet people from all over the world.

    Cons

upper management is out of touch and always on your back. Skills and experience are not appreciated. Treated poorly. Management lies to employees.

    Advice to Management

Trust your employees to do their job without your negative remarks to them. This causes low moral among the employees. When a upper boss uses foul language with you for no good cause and is demeaning to an employee this is not professional or called for. Glad to be gone just because of the upper management. Lower management has a great turn over because of these things.

I have been working at Park City Resort full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The skiing and the ability to be outside and not always in the office. My boss had full faith in me which was nice so I was able to give well over 100% to my job.

    Cons

The lack of vision towards the future for some management.

    Advice to Management

Try to think like a person who is visiting your resort from another part the country. Someone who's entire life does not revolve around skiing but for one week it might.

    Pros

Lots of really terrific people work for the two companies and do their best to make a difference in the resort setting.

    Cons

The management does not really have their eye on keeping people for the long term. The owner spends money on frivolous and expensive ventures but fails to realize that people are the best investment he could make. Mid-level management is stuck in a cannibalistic mindset where they try to stay alive before they are eaten up by someone higher up.

    Advice to Management

Don't lie to your employees, or set them up for failure. Also, pay people what they are worth for the high stress jobs they perform.
