I worked at Park City Resort (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Season pass, and that is it

    Cons

Poor work environment, management that degrades and belittles you, no advancement, uncomfortable advances, drinking on the job, peer pressure, management that uses illegal drugs during work hours

    Advice to Management

    Screen management better

    Pros

You get a free ski pass

    Cons

No growth, management that is not at all resourceful, and a lot of manipulation going on to coax people into committing to an unpromising career.

    Advice to Management

    Be transparent with your employees.

    Pros

Beautiful place, kind interviewers, would be lucky to be fully employed.

    Cons

After applying and being guaranteed the position, they did a background check. I received a copy as well and so I knew when they got it. Waited a week, no responce. Called 20 times over 20 days. Always HR would give me ignorance or lies.

    Advice to Management

Don't promise to employ someone and then give them no hours. I am poor as is and the flight into SLC costs money. Please treat humans with respect.

    Pros

Beautiful, peers are cool, lifestyle, free pass

    Cons

terrible pay, terrible hours, 6 years at the mountain and they paid newcomers more than me, they don't make you feel good about working there, ambition is not rewarded

    Advice to Management

Treat employees better, not everyone is there to just be a ski bum, some of us want to grow

I have been working at Park City Resort full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Canyons of Old was amazing, the people the culture superseded 10 fold over Vail resorts idea of culture and values, every part of their Values- do good, do right blah blah and more blah...Vail values are empty word thats all...

    Cons

Vail empty promises....During Transition the company made many errors that made our work&life balance very difficult. So many that when they actually had a great opportunity to do right the company decided agains it.

    Advice to Management

Management of old please look for a brighter place to grow....

    Pros

Great health insurance options for full time employees

    Cons

Everything else! Once Vail Resorts purchased Canyons Resort we lost lots of previous discounts, our pay scale is changing, longtime supervisors were replaced with people that were never seen or accessible.

    Advice to Management

Treat your employees like humans instead of just another number!

I worked at Park City Resort full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

I really liked all of the people I worked with. Because so many people want to work in Park City, the resorts can be picky in who they hire. They provide ample training for all jobs and decent benefits.

    Cons

Employees seem really undervalued. Everybody is paid ridiculously low wages for what they are doing. In my case, I was given a different title and wage than promised and ended up leaving the company.

    Advice to Management

Most of the upper management seems intimidating but is actually really cool. My advice, if you decide to work at Canyons, is to have fun at your job.
