"Great place to learn composites, but don't stay"

    Pros

For someone new to the composites industry, the company is a great learning experience. There's lots of opportunity to get "hands on" experience. Many opportunities to work directly with customers throughout the aerospace industry. The company is very customer focused, which is nice.

    Cons

Bad management. It doesn't matter how much research or justification you put into a project, at the end of the day, the CEO makes every decision for the company. All the senior managers run around trying to make sure the CEO is happy rather than actually making the business better. There's also no room for career growth. Once you get your title and salary you're stuck with it, unless you're in senior management. The place also has a swinging door of talent coming in and out of the company. This was the first company I saw folks leave in large numbers due to frustration or they got canned. If you did something the CEO didn't like, your days were numbered. Also, be prepared to work 60+ hours without any additional compensation or even a pat on the back. Long hours are expected!

    Advice to Management

Stop being so scared of the CEO and his dictator ways. The company is publicly traded and I'm sure the investors would not want a company that can't keep good talent.

I worked at Park Electrochemical (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Paid every week. Health care cost comparatively low.

    Cons

Run by a dictator who does not listen to any advice from any one else in the company. This is why the revenues have fallen so dramatically.

    Advice to Management

    Get a new CEO

I worked at Park Electrochemical full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good health insurance, paid lunch breaks, occasional gift certificates to grocery stores and gas stations and company lunches. Friendly and caring lab director.

    Cons

Typical schedule is Mon-Sat and if you come in on Saturday be prepared to get up at early enough to be there by 4am. Sometimes you might have to work up to three weeks without a day off. While overtime is optional, management encourages you to always come in. If you don't, you will not be respected by anyone there. No chance of promotion unless you have a MS or PhD. If you have a Bachelor's I would suggest to work there for one year and get out.

    Advice to Management

Let people think for themselves and trust your employees. Do not talk to your technicians like they were born yesterday.

I worked at Park Electrochemical (Less than a year)

    Pros

There is a program to help you get trained in other areas, it's just not used well.

    Cons

I wish I would of read the other reviews before taking the job.
Division between management/office area and production area.
    Lots of turnover.

    Advice to Management

    Listen to your employees

    Pros

Employment, just to have a temporary job is the only thing to do here as they are failing financially and have no real positive direction

    Cons

Everything...management philosophy/style, lack of upward mobility, ask too much for so very littel, no appreciation, it goes on and on and on....

    Advice to Management

Fire yourselves! The company will be better off!

I have been working at Park Electrochemical full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Decent benefits as far as health/dental/vision insurance, etc. If they didn't lie to you about them. Which they will.

    Cons

Everything. No care for the safety or well being of employees unless it could potentially become a problem for them financially. Everything. Management kept changing their minds about how you were to get your raises. You could train in a new area with the promise of a raise for learning the new machine, but then they would change their mind and not follow through with it because lack of personnel.

    Advice to Management

Communicate better amongst yourselves and show more courtesy to your employees. If your employees tell you something, listen. They're the people actually on the floor doing the job, if they're telling you there is a problem, listen and check into it.
