I worked at Park Place Motorcars full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The best thing about this place are other employees (non-management). The good people get overrun by the bad employees and turnover is constant (but they will lie about that too...)

    Cons

Well... I doubt there's enough space for the cons. The corporate people are the biggest con. And cons they are. They talk about unwavering integrity, passionate service and personal commitment to excellence as core convictions - but they are the POLAR opposite of all of these. I doubt people would be so upset if they were just honest about who they really are - just another dirtbag group of car dealers who only care about money. If you do decide to take a job here, just know you will be overworked, underpaid and undervalued.

    Advice to Management

Sell already! You've ruined it. A bunch of uneducated clowns.

    No opinion of CEO

    Pros

    -Pays well
-Can make friends in the work place

    Cons

-The hours at Park Place are horrible and long
-No good channels of promotion. Most people in upper management have either been there forever or are placed there from outside.
-Can't take ownership of your own job and improve
-Upper level employees can be condescending
-Management either has no policies or does not follow them. If there is a problem no one knows the procedure for dealing with it and usually gets botched.
-The car dealership world can bring about sketchy environments

    Advice to Management

Put down policies and procedures so that everyone is on the same page and make sure you follow them.

I have been working at Park Place Motorcars full-time

    Pros

    -Good pedigree
    -Well organized
-Focus on continuous improvement for the customer
    -Modern

    Cons

    -Poor commission structure
    -No room for advancement
    -Poor management
    -No concern for employee welfare

    Advice to Management

Take a more human look at the way you pay employees and perhaps you will retain more of them. It is evident that the company care for its clients, but the treatment of employees is sub par.

    Pros

    -Great facility
    -Clean building
    -Clean bathrooms
    -Pay check clears every Friday
    -Great awards banquet
-people who care about their job and co-workers

    Cons

    -Unrealistic work expectation
-Driven to meet Customer service numbers at all costs
    -Turnover rate is alarming
-Hiring of inexperienced employees at extremely low pay
-Pay reflects circumstances beyond what you can control
-Management who is out of touch with reality
    -Overwelming and difficult workload/expectations
    -Under pay for commission jobs
    -Stressful work environment
-No concern for employees children and families
    -Horrible and expensive benefit packages
-"What have you done for me lately" feeling from management
-Owner doesn't seem to care about his people who helped build his company anymore
-Companies goals no longer seem to include long term employees

    Advice to Management

Owner should pay more attention to what his management team is doing to exploit the goodwill of their subordinates. What once was great place to work has turned into a stressful and hostile pass the buck environment to avoid disiplinary actions. Management has created a feeling of learned helplessness in the employee's jobs to accompany their decline in pay.

Current Employee - Valet/Greeter in Dallas, TX

    Pros

-Base pay is decent, but taxes and deductions eat it up quickly.

    -Good benefits, Incentives.

-Often busy pace, There is always something to do.

    Cons

-The hours and general scheduling if left alone can leave a lot to be desired, Often chewing up your whole day.

-Promotion is seemingly possible, but unfortunately with as many deciding factors as there are in the automobile service, and sales industry, it is very easy to slip up and have that be the cause of getting passed over for a promotion or bonus.

-The constant feeling of micromanagement is felt in just about everything that one as a Valet does. (The Greeters tell Valet's what to do, The Asst. Lead Valet tells Valet's what to do. The Lead Valet tells Valet's what to do, The Asst. Service Managers, or Service Advisors usually don't get involved, but their higher-ups, Service Managers will step in and tell Valet's what to do. Even the Service Director, and up on higher will tell Valet's what to do. )

In short, there is almost as many management figures as there are Valet's, And at times it can be very disconcerting, and even irritating to go take care of a task and have 5 different levels of management ask/tell you about it.

-The Asst. Service Managers at times can be lackadaisical in their response to a waiting client on the service drive.

-As with any environment where there are many in the same position, there is the usual element of competitive smearing (Someone in your same position making you look bad in front of management or fellow peers), and gossip. Word gets to management quickly over any little quibble.

    Advice to Management

-Allow one to take ownership over their work and perfect it.
-Make promotion an even more attractive and attainable incentive, not just a carrot on a stick in front of the proverbial donkey.

    Pros

Great reputation in their market area
Good benefits - health, 401k, etc.
    Very professional environment

    Cons

No support from management - most client issues fall back on the techs, even if something related to their service advisor
Management does consider any changes or suggestions that service department may have
Technicians are required to be at work at all times during day, even though pay check does not require clocking in/out

    Advice to Management

    Listen to your service techs
Remember that the service departments keeps the lights on
