I worked at Parker Hannifin HPD full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great Company. Clear goals, and expectations

    Cons

They require you to relocate most of the time for advancement

    Advice to Management

Probably not so heavy on the relocations demands

    Pros

Parker Hannifin offers great benefits, great opportunity for advancements. This includes training and interacting with other great companies

    Cons

Parker is always short staffed. One must be prepared to handle heavy work load including weekends. It is required that you be able to work under pressure

    Advice to Management

Customer service is very important. When you are short staffed, and the customer is put on hold, they could possibly take their business elsewhere. More staff, would increase productivity and reduce descrepancies

I worked at Parker Hannifin HPD full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Parker, as a whole, is a great corporation with a lot of opportunity if you are willing to relocate and take chances. Good long-term employer. Conservative in nature. Good benefits and 401k matching. A lot of long tenure people.

    Cons

Poor work environment. Some long-term employees acted "untouchable" and did as they pleased. Work/Life balance was challenging in a lot of roles. Micro-managing limited room for growth and creativity in the business, it also slowed the process of many projects. Communication in regard to the business was poor and it showed throughout the organization. Performance was not seemingly appreciated and talent was not well utilized, same response whether mediocre or outstanding.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees and make real change based on their feedback, not just temporary adjustments. Improve the work environment and people will be happier and work harder. Appreciation and real interaction with your people goes a long way.

I worked at Parker Hannifin HPD full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Decent pay and benefits. It's a large company and could (potentially) offer career opportunities.

    Cons

This environment was quite the eye opener. During my first annual review, the Value Stream Manager stated that they loved having me as part of the team. That I had met and exceeded all expectations. However, since it was my first review and since I had to show improvement year after year, they decided to give me a poor evaluation. Be careful with this company. If you can't play the politics, a different environment may be better for you.

    Pros

Great pay with the profit sharing program called RONA. 100% tuition reimbursement. Must stay for 2 years for undergrad and 3 years for graduate tuition reimbursement checks if you don't want to pay them back. Dynamic environment that moves fast. Plenty of people that know there jobs but not as many as there used to be. Great place to work if your in engineering, marketing, quality engineering, or even accounting and maybe HR. Usually a summer and winter party which is nice. Usually pretty good communication about happenings going on in the division. Lots of amazing technology.

    Cons

healthcare benefits aren't the best. That means if someone spends a week in the hospital on the company's insurance expect to pay nearly $10,000 out of pocket depending on which health plan you have before the benefits kick in 100%. Culture for a number of years has not been to promote from within but rather to hire from the outside. Very frustrating to hard working and faithful employees. In some roles you are going nowhere in this company and the best suggestion is to find something else and leave. Limited opportunities for IT, customer service, credit/collections. In these departments you are just a commodity that can be replaced with a temp. Warning: if you are a temp, don't expect to get hired in unless you work your tail off and make miracles happen. Keep your eyes open for something better. You will work your tail off in those departments while other departments your treated like an executives. This company will run some departments lean to the bone. It can be very stressful. This company has become political and if you get on somebody's wrong side they will try to find a way to fire you.

    Advice to Management

Have better health care benefits. Don't run the business too lean and push employees to hard. The good ones will leave. The bad ones are good at doing the minimum and will stay.

    Pros

Seemingly nice people, but this is largely an illusion. Nobody really cares about anything, other than making their artificial and rigged metric numbers.

    Cons

It is an in-grown culture, where management is very conservative and says one thing (about growth, innovation, and progressiveness) but, then, does something completely different--by improving profits through the cutting of head count. Essentially, it has not grown through actual innovation in years--almost all of its growth has occurred through acquisitions. Also, as the (endless) number of old-line, highly compensated VPs cut costs through head-count reductions of front-line workers, they retain their company cars and jet around the world in business class to pointless, far-away meetings, particularly the group presidents, the continuous improvement personnel, and the HR people, who, actually, might be among the worst offenders, in this respect. This company is simply an enormous sham, frankly, and no young person in their right mind should work for them.

    Advice to Management

Get ready to be bought and split up by Warren Buffet or somebody else. The company is worth far more in pieces than it is as a whole, because, whatever you say, it's an old-fashioned holding company.
