I have been working at Parker Hannifin (More than a year)

    Pros

Benefits were good, job security, quality product

    Cons

Very little room for raises/ career growth

    Advice to Management

I know Parker has become huge, but don't overwork and underpay your employees for your bottom line. Much sight has been lost when it comes to employees as real/ smart/ talented people.

I have been working at Parker Hannifin full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Decent pay in Fabrication, not comparable to pay/benefits at Lockheed but decent.
Profit sharing has been steady at ~8% of gross earnings, paid out once a year in August.
No mandatory overtime for hourly, but up to 22hrs/week available for volunteers.
Everything over 40 is 1.5x pay, work 7 days straight and sunday is 2x pay, work an observed holiday and it's 2.5x pay. Salary has different rules depending exempt/non-exempt and roles.

    Cons

Assembly pay is almost consistently a paygrade lower than Fab., with less opportunity to move up grades. All reimbursements, lunches, shirts, profit sharing is taxed at 32%.
Alot of churn on the bottom of the pyramid and at the top, mgmt has a ~2yr life expectency before finding greener pastures. Consistently outsource work to mom and pops or our Mexican plant who fail to deliver on time to us causing us to then fail to deliver to our Customers "Just in Time".

    Advice to Management

Bring the Machine shop back in house so we can actually control when components hit our system or we will never be able to ship "just in time" to our customers. Or keep chasing minimal increases in metrics before bailing right before the metrics cave in... again.

    Pros

Great co-workers that care, great benefits, many opportunities to grow within the company

    Cons

Don't give you opportunities to fix mistakes and are quick to fire individuals, no warnings and write ups will still result in terminations, need better talent development strategies

    Advice to Management

Take more pride in development of younger workers and valuing their diversity, this is a baby boomer driven organization that doesn't listen to other perspectives

I worked at Parker Hannifin full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Benefits, Security, some Opportunity, plenty of challenges.

    Cons

To high stress of job because upper management didn't and doesn't understand the proper workings and development to a profitable end. Opportunity stifled by upper management that does not understand what you do and what you can do. Ignorance is bliss.

    Advice to Management

Local management needs to quit over doing the corporate policies. They need to grow some character and stand up to the corporate head quarters. If not both Parker as a whole and as a division suffer from lack of understanding of what would make a great company. A company that will treat their employees with dignity and excel in ways that could propel them into excellent profits instead of mediocre. Quit trying to stay stagnant and look to the future. Sacrifices now can make great gains later if they had the proper vision. I for one had the vision but was stagnated by management that did not understand and would not take initiative to do great things.
