I worked at Parker New York full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Longstanding and very supportive team. Amazing product and location. Management is well organized, open door policy, no red tape. Upper management is easily accessible and responsive. There is a strategic focus on making the sales process smooth and efficient. Colleagues are friendly and the environment is productive. Victoria Barr (DOSM) runs an efficient and successful operation and I learned a lot from her. Mrs. Kerr (Director of HR) is helpful and generous with insight and guidance. Steven Pipes (VP) is personable and easy to talk to and values employees. Starwood connection - incredible hotel perks.

    Cons

There are really no cons to report. Hospitality industry is full of daily challenges as is any industry. Any cons to list would not be on the hotel side.

management as a whole is pretty useless here. don’t know how to deal with anything. everyone takes the hands off approach. double standards. benefits are bad.
working for a corp that swindles money and steals from their employees is always not fun.
    mice everywhere!!!!!!

    Advice to Management

    Pros

Really good coffee fun interactions with guests and passerby's. Good pay/benefits

    Cons

I honestly don't recommend working here unless you really need a boost in your life financially, otherwise you are wasting your time and energy on people who view you as garbage and don't respect basic human rights. It's a horrible environment the HR & management are terrible at their jobs and have no common sense worst of all they never help you they are always out to get you. Your co-workers won't help much either.

    Advice to Management

    Quit & reevaluate your lives.

    Cons

    Pros

Union jobs are ok here due to the protection they provide from unscrupulous and vengeful style of management.

    Cons

-Decision makers dont know what its like to work in the departments their decisions impact. Because of this bizarre and often times sadly laughable choices are made that in effect make staff work with one hand tied behind their back to compensate.
-There are entirely too many layers of management that make getting the smallest of tasks done require half a dozen people sign off on it to approve it. Things routinely run out that we had run out of the month before with no lessons being learned in how to better avoid the pothole we keep running into over and over and over again.
-Mistakes are held up for everyone to see while accomplishments are buried and quickly forgotten.

    Advice to Management

The amount of red tape it requires to get anything done at LPM is the highest I've seen anywhere. Fix this. Consult your staff before making decisions on their behalf that too many times force them to spend time compensating for your lack of foresight. Stop posting baloney reviews on here that are obviously from the HR department/

  8. "Would not recommend for career oriented folk. Union jobs, FD, and Concierge are good places to work though"

I have been working at Parker New York (More than a year)

    Pros

Good money, opportunities for growth, and a great way to learn about the business in a major iconic property

    Cons

Said iconic property needs a refresh and has needed it for quite a while. Management is very mixed. Great GM, otherwise very uninspiring

    Advice to Management

Talk more to people. Ask them what they want and how to improve the company. Or just keep doing what you're doing

I have been working at Parker New York full-time

    Pros

Le Parker Meridien is committed to employees that are committed to delivering the best everyday! From entry level to management positions, hard work is recognized and key to the continued success of the hotel. Most people here have worked here for at least 5 years. Many have been here for over 20 years. It is the type of place you come to grow with the company.

    Cons

Because it is a large property, it can be hard to learn all of the different facets and meet people from different departments. If you are looking to grow through different departments, you have to go above and beyond to demonstrate your interest and meet people for inter-departmental learning.

    Advice to Management

Ensure clear communication as much as possible. Especially highlighting guest experiences, employee/department achievements and challenges that impact everyone.
