I have been working at Parker Tide as a contractor (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Keeps employees informed through emails and company newsletter.

Responds to employee inquiries promptly and accurately.

Refrains from getting between the employee and the customer.

Pay is fair for the work performed.

Benefits (holiday pay, leave, 401K, and more) are generous.

    Cons

Uncertainty of future opportunities with the company (not the company's fault; comes with the territory in this type of work).

Federal gov't and agency rules tend to isolate contractors from federal employee counterparts (again, not company's fault -- also, not always a bad thing).

    Advice to Management

Do your utmost to keep yourselves at the high level you have established for yourselves and your employees.

I worked at Parker Tide (More than 5 years)

    Pros

They were fantastic to work for and I was always able to get good, long-term contractor positions at government agencies. They really took into account my interests when placing me.

    Cons

As time wore on the pay wasn't as competitive as it could have been. Also, none of the contractor assignments ever led to permanent positions for me or any of the other contractors I knew.

I have been working at Parker Tide full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Flexible hours, good team to work with, hands-off management approach

    Cons

Lack of upward mobility, pay isn't the best

    Advice to Management

I like the hands-off approach. Maybe consider raises - our pay is a bit low.

I worked at Parker Tide as a contractor (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Independence, easy direct-deposit, friendly office staff.

    Cons

Frequently disorganized, sent wrong invoices to the client I was working for, provided no networking opportunities for employees, terrible health benefits.

    Advice to Management

Provide networking opportunities and information sessions for employees, especially when a large number are placed at the same government agency.

I have been working at Parker Tide full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Hands-off management approach, employee reports directly to the client and has little contact with the company outside of HR/pay

    Cons

No incentive pay, limited leave, no review process

    Advice to Management

Provide rewards to employees that have been able to keep their contract positions with a client for several contract terms.
