    TERRIBLE TEAM MANAGEMENT ***

    Jan 29, 2023 - Superintendent
    Recommend

    Business Outlook

    Pros

Two layers of support to the Superintendent from the PM and Manager of the PMs and concise communication about expectations. BUT....READ BELOW.

    Cons

If you have the chance to be in your hometown and work projects in the area, they say that you will be able to get a project near home if available. And they may even start with you near your home. That said if you have a certain Manager who has no fiduciary responsibility in his entire work repertoire nor does he comprehend this factor, beware. He is layered with side income from material suppliers and subs who give him kickbacks to do the work ongoing. This leads to the Superintendent becoming a scapegoat for the projects that he has let go bad and will bring a new person in to salvage the project and get to the finishline. Depending upon the status of the project the manager will then take the credit if it was saved and going well. Or if not, because of extenuating circumstances well beyond your control, you are then made responsible for ALL OF THE PROBLEMS that were relevant and needing a solution prior to your getting the Project as a Superintendent. This will lead to either you being let go and left to feel like you just road a tornado or shipped out to an all overnight Construction Project that has to be open for operations the following morning daily. This is a terrible way to manage the projects because if one sub is off on timing, again out of the Superintendents control, this disrupts the ENTIRE process and then you will have every higher up from Parkway and the Client expecting daily reports which is a time drain that is counterintuitive to the goal of getting back on schedule. All in all I believe that this is a great company if you are given the opportunity to become a part of a team that isn't comprised of all new people to the industry because they will ultimately be the downfall of the person who has the necessary knowledge and experience to be successful. Unfortunately you will be setup to fail and promised the moon but will be given dirt. They even let a strong Superintendent go because of input from an unexperieced PM and because this person had to leave due to a family loss after which they terminated his position. I don't know but this doesn't sound like a good "work/life" balance that is purported and not implored. Current, not for long, Employee

Terrible Employer - Do Not Work Here

    Pros

Decent pay and benefits. Good treatment for employees that attend the church that the top leaders attend.

    Cons

Parkway lays off employees without any severance pay. The day they lay you off medical benefits end. There is no concern or empathy for loyal and hardworking laid off employees.
