I have been working at Parsely full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    - Work/Life Balance: This exists here. You "choose" your hours. While there is a bit of a standard set of when you should be online, you never feel pressured to be in at the exact time every day. PTO is substantial, you never feel ashamed if you need to take legitimate sick or personal day.

-Growth and Development: Team and Personal Goals are clear, once established it's up to you to accomplish them. There is no micro-managing, you're responsible for getting your work done. If you have an interest in a particular department, upper-management will always do their best to get you involved with a chance to eventually move.

-Environment: I can't say enough about how great the people are here. Everyone is "we" before "me." People are always willing to lend a hand or walk you through something. Not to mention the office is great, located right in Midtown Manhattan.

    Cons

    - Transparency: This one is a bit of a double-edged sword. While communication is excellent and the vision of the company is there, like every startup, there are and will be gaps that need to be bridged. Sometimes teams can be siloed, and it is hard to understand what everyone is working on. However, management knows of this and are working on processes to prevent this.

Outside of that, there are no cons. Accepting this position has been of one my best career decisions. There is no such thing as the "Sunday scaries" here. I like going to work and enjoy what I do, even if I have a rough day. If you're reading this, can you personally say that about your job?

    Advice to Management

    - Don't forget the things that brought you here. Culture, Commitment to the Product and your investment in your employees. As you continue to scale and get large, it is hard to keep up that personal touch.

I have been working at Parsely full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    - Remote team
    - Bright people
    - Regularly ships code
    - No micromanagement
    - Colleagues do open source work
    - People are friendly, lots of collaboration

    Cons

    - Pay is slightly below average for industry, but getting better
    - Competitive market for the product
    - Scale of systems sometimes a bit intimidating
    - Think the product team could be a little bigger to spread work around

    Advice to Management

The founders are very focused on culture, and it really shows. They also have a lot of employees who have been here several years and keep the culture maintained even in the day-to-day work. My biggest piece of advice would be not to become corporate as the headcount and revenue continues to grow!
