I worked at Parsons Brinckerhoff full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Great company benefits
    Nice office
The people, as with most companies, are what makes the place great.

    Cons

Most Management is located in NY, which makes them detached from everything. They do not really know what goes on in the departments and their staff. Favoritism runs deep, playground tactics and unmonitored managers are left to do whatever they choose.

    Advice to Management

Stop relying on what is told to you, and actually pay attention to what is going on. Find out if what you are being told is true, or if you are just being snowballed by a deceptive manager

I worked at Parsons Brinckerhoff (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Has challenging projects mostly involving rail transit upgrades and new routes all across the US and Canada. A good place to learn from experts.

    Cons

The volume of work fluctuates causing stress due to excessive workload or lack of work. Which is typical of the industry but the management does not want workers to do overtime or charge to overhead.

    Advice to Management

The management should allow a 10% overhead charge to cover such lack of work.

    Pros

Very smart engineers with high skill levels, some great project managers, relaxed working environment, and fun people to work with

    Cons

Two acquisitions have made the company into more of a commercialized commodity; lots more (useless) policies and procedures to follow; lack of work-sharing across offices; staff don't know what the vision is for the future.

    Advice to Management

Simplify the organizational structure and strategic vision

I have been working at Parsons Brinckerhoff full-time

    Pros

    Nice people. Intelligent staff overall.

    Cons

Not much promotion/advancement. You basically stay in whatever position you're hired into for the duration of your employment.

    Advice to Management

Upper management needs to connect with the employees more. Most employees rarely interact with their regional managers, and meeting executive leadership is even more rare. There's a huge disconnect between leadership and local staff.
