I have been working at Partners HealthCare full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great benefits, good amount of time off, working with people passionate about their research

    Cons

Not able to work from home

    Advice to Management

Employees should be compensated for the responsibility/level of work they are completing, regardless of title/pay grade. Employees do not want to be doing the same amount of work as someone and getting paid less just because they don't have the same title.

I have been working at Partners HealthCare full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Good benefits, kind colleagues, competent management, interesting work, flexible hours

    Cons

    >20% lower salary than comparable private company; selects for people who are looking for this flexibility/income tradeoff, which creates an odd work environment

    Advice to Management

Varies by group, but for me the door is always open

I worked at Partners HealthCare full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

I loved working at Partners, and I learned a lot there. They replaced the electronic health record which was built in-house with Epic. I left because the work I was doing was going away.

    Cons

Lots of people who had spent most of their careers at Partners, unusual for software developers. They are very knowledgeable, but not committed to staying current with new technologies. I felt I had zero chance for advancement. The engineer salaries are lower than the Boston market, and the annual raises are low.

    Pros

Most supportive environment I have ever worked in, but I attribute most of that to my direct boss. I've seen some negative reviews about benefits. That's ridiculous. I've never had such great healthcare benefits.

    Cons

Work/life balance is challenging. Lay-offs to the eCare group coming this year

    Pros

People are great and the company has a great work/life balance. Management definitely respects employees. Benefits are fantastic.

    Cons

Compared to similar positions at other companies, the pay isn't that great. Promotions are based on years of experience instead of output

I worked at Partners HealthCare full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

    Excellent benefits
    Consistent working hours
    Talented staff
Good management in Finance/Real Estate department
    Prestigious company with solid mission
Large company with opportunity to move to different departments

    Cons

    Low pay
    Limited opportunity for bonus
Old school approach to working remote

    Advice to Management

Continue to cultivate what the company does well, while also moving towards more forward thinking when it comes to flexible and work from home options. Very good company that only needs minimal fine tuning. Also increasing compensation will help retain talent.
