    Pros

Good pay, normal 8:30-5 hours, its a big organization so there is some room to move around within the company. Variety of offices around Boston mean you can usually take the 'T' to your job. Having worked at other for profits, Partners is a lot less clicky place to work.

    Cons

No profit sharing. No stock program. So far there hasnt been any downsides. Its a great place to work.

    Advice to Management

So far whatever they are doing is working. Its a nice place to work.

    Pros

There are a number of hospitals that you can work for and all use the same software, payroll, etc. Partners also has a number of perks for working with them, such as discounted events that are changed weekly. In addition, the hospitals are large and well-known with good reputations. It's nice to work for a place where you can easily switch between different hospitals and positions.

    Cons

Some of the hospitals sometimes try to cut costs where they shouldn't be cut. For instance, trying to downsize departments that are vital to patient care. I think there are cuts that should be made in other areas, but not those that are deeply involved in patient care and safety.

    Advice to Management

    Please see above.

    Pros

The benefits are top notch, medical are better than anywhere else I have worked.

    Cons

The commute is tough. Lots of time on the subway.

    Advice to Management

Not sure, they seem to be very upfront and direct with the directions they are taking the hospital.

I have been working at Partners HealthCare full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Very stable, well-managed company with excellent work/life balance including telecommuting options. Working in corporate IS is really "enterprise-level" work that impacts millions of people across Eastern Mass. Even with the Epic migration it's still more stable than most companies. Good technology, there are legacy systems to be supported but there's always new/upgraded systems as well.

    Cons

The downside of being such a stable company is that you pretty much work in the same area, year after year, with the same 2% raise every year; your hard work is appreciated among your immediate colleagues but you're not going to revolutionize healthcare and get rich as an individual contributor in IS. Under the previous CEO/CIO IS was a strategic growth area, while they aren't necessarily cutting back right now they're not growing either.

    Advice to Management

Give people an opportunity to work on different projects throughout the organization based on their interests. Understandably clinical systems change slowly and deliberately, but make it easier, at least for engineering types, to replace their machines, laptops, get a second monitor. Replace ServiceCenter with something more functional for all of IS.

I worked at Partners HealthCare full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Large place with great benefits. Great to be a part of something so positive. I was there until my first child was born. I hope to go back some day.

    Cons

Not all departments are "mom" flexible. It's SO big, sometimes it feels like you are in a silo.

    Advice to Management

Just because someone stays "late" every day, doesn't mean they are producing anything extra. It's often a body at a desk ;)
