I worked at Partners HealthCare full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

State of the art building in Somerville. great amenities

    Cons

Internal candidates apply for jobs, no one gets back to them to let them know if they are selected nor why not selected; transfer process is a joke; lack of classes for employees

    Advice to Management

Stop cutting benefits and resources to employees and focus on developing your employees

    Pros

Great pay and benefits, great professionals to work with, learning opportunities available. Hard work within reasonable hours, allowing for work/life balance.

    Cons

Too many layoffs, restructuring. No more opportunities for cross-departmental training

    Advice to Management

Know each individual employee's value and contribution to the group. Be open to each employee's career development. Hire new staff but the old, if new staff are silver then old staff are gold. Build more pathways to advance high potential individuals and avoid losing good talent.

I have been working at Partners HealthCare full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Must Enter Five Words. None.

    Cons

Outdated Processes, Poorly Organized Processes, No Support, Odd Benefits including PTO. Some company health benefit plans EXCLUDE the major/best hospitals in their own organization. There "best" hospitals are good enough for anyone who pays cash, or have really good insurance, but not their own staff.

    Advice to Management

Your turnover rate is quite high. Morale is VERY very low. Fix it.

I have been working at Partners HealthCare full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

It's entirely dependent from department to department, but the IT departments are flexible in regards to working locations and values the work/life balance. The health benefits and retirement plans are also excellent.

    Cons

Because the benefits are great, the talent gets stale. Some people are just putting in their time and are lifers waiting for retirement. So the upward mobility is limited.

I worked at Partners HealthCare full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

As it is a large company, there are positions that open up all the time all over the greater Boston area and Eastern Massachusetts. Very good medical benefits.

    Cons

As it is a large company, it is easy to get lost in the tens of thousands of employees. I found it difficult to find a career path in IS/Informatics and HR did not know how to help me when I came to the end of funding for my position.

    Advice to Management

I would say that you need to up your game as far as providing support for career paths at PHS. I looked for positions for over 6 months in the internal system and I found it difficult to figure out if a particular position would be a lateral move or not, with the exception of those positions listed in standard language. It would be great if there could be an option to filter on just those positions that were a close match on not just keywords but also number of years experience and salary.

    Pros

Company is good to learn about healthcare. Great to get exposure about government process and legal do's and don't.

    Cons

The internal process that the company has and HR reps are under staff. The process to grow internal is the slowest process I ever seen. I see more people get contacted for the same job that are external. The HR staff doesn't get back to you. It's bad when you have hunt down internal staff.

    Advice to Management

    no

I have been working at Partners HealthCare full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Attracts a lot of smart people!
Many business units have flexible work arrangements which people with families/young kids appreciate.

    Cons

Very academic environment. The more letters you have after your name, the more revered you are. MD, PhD etc etc
    Very hierarchical.
