I have been working at Party City full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Chance to meet cool and friendly people at certain locations.
Very flexible with schedule, depending on GM.
A lot of nifty benefits if you know where to look.

    Cons

Corporate is sloppy, unorganized, and doesn't know which direction to head in. Party City is only around because Amscan (manufacturer that owns Party City) uses it to undercut their own customers. And it shows. The job is good for a student, anyone else expect to be at Party City 10+ years before making a decent income, as long as your hourly you'll never get out what you put in.

    Cons

Petty Management, Cliquish Environment, Put-Up and Shut-Up Culture

    Advice to Management

Review the Supervisor training and see that its actually passed down to the Associates to avoid chaos and confusion.

I have been working at Party City full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Family atmosphere, Friendly supervisor/co-workers, Easy position to learn, flexible scheduling, you can move up the ranks quickly.

    Cons

Micromanaging district manager, poor scheduling (not enough staff on duty), be prepared to do the job of 3 people, Co-workers don't always jump in to help when busy, when there is a full staff your hours will be cut. They don't appreciate the good help they have. Nothing ever seems to be good enough.

    Advice to Management

The need to look into the behavior of their district manager. I can see why there is high turnover at our location. He is a bully to put it bluntly.

I have been working at Party City full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great products, nice discount. Fast paced

    Cons

Never a 50 hr work week, work\life balance is all work. Very task driven with not enough time or people to achieve leaving salary managers to burn out.

    Advice to Management

Spend a week in a store

I have been working at Party City full-time

    Pros

Great team of employees at store level.

    Cons

Corporate has no idea of how stores actually run. They have expectations that are, sometimes, unachievable.

    Advice to Management

Corporate should work in the stores when it's a conversion, ex. Halloween, just to see what kind of timeframe "they" give us. They should experience the level of freight that comes in and the little payroll we have to achieve their goals.
