I have been working at Party City full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Corporate employees are friendly and help each other out. Lots of team spirit within different teams. Office is conveniently located.

    Cons

Full of micromanagement from the top down. Management is basically just task managers who direct employees on what the best way to solve problems are and where every idea is wrong except their own.

Management doesn't collaborate or take constructive criticism for ideas. Individual contributor voices aren't heard at all and are more often told you're wrong and that you must do it the way you're told. IT is using 5+ year old software and hardware which makes it extremely difficult to do your job without your computer being slow, breaking, etc.

Quite honestly, the most toxic environment I've ever worked in. There is absolutely ZERO work life balance. You're expected to work rigid hours with no flexibility.

    Advice to Management

Collaborate with your employees. Don't squash ideas based on your ego. Create and foster a positive culture that allows your employees to thrive. Encourage flexible hours or work arrangements. Create the culture that the company stands for and stop the high turnover.

Invest in technology and don't just go for the lowest bidder or cut corners. Technology is the future of retail, just look at Amazon or any other successful retailers.

Don't take your employees for granted. No idea is too small to influence positive change.

I worked at Party City part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Coworkers were friendly. Tasks required were not difficult. Good place to get initial work experience, so you can leave and go somewhere better.

    Cons

Boring. Low Pay. ALWAYS understaffed, and management would yell at you when you couldn't clear a line of 30 people checking out, AND blow up 50 balloons at the same time. Then they would get mad when you ask for help, and then get mad when you didnt ask for help. lose-lose

    Advice to Management

    Hire more people

I have been working at Party City full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The employee discount is very good. They take 30% from our entire order & that is all we get. But it’s very well

    Cons

They do not train you & expect you to come in knowing everything. You can work a 10 hour day & only get a 30 minute break.

    Advice to Management

We need better management in this store specifically

Easy to get hired. Work not hard. Good discount for employees

    Cons

Corporate doesn't care about concerns on a store level. If your not rubbing elbows with the RM or DM you won't get any type of promotions.

    Advice to Management

Treat all your employees like they matter and not just the ones you like
