I worked at Parx Casino full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Great pay for a college student; $15 per hour plus tips as a Player Service Representative. I could make anywhere between $1 to $600 in tips in one night.

    Cons

    1) Racism...yes, RACISM is a problem at Parx Casino and not in the way you probably think (Black vs. White). A lot of my coworkers teased the Asian people in the "East Asian Gaming Room", saying things like they refuse to help them if they can't speak English, they stink and absolutely refusing to work in the Asian Gaming room. I am a shamed for not speaking up against my coworkers and their thoughts but I was one of...

    Advice to Management

For the casino to be owned by a foreigner, he should be more concerned how his staff treats his Asian clientele because they're being picked on for being foreign.

I have been working at Parx Casino full-time

    Pros

Salary and Believe me "That's it!"

    Cons

They do not in any way shape or form care about anything but the mighty dollar! It's really sad because it could be a really fun place to work if the money grubbing owners didn't have their say! If they would just worry about treating their employees like more than a number, maybe customer service wouldn't be an issue! There are so many other things I could say but what's the point? As long as you have gamblers, you...

    Advice to Management

Management probably feels the same way but they need a job too! I just think that it takes a whole lot more effort to be nasty than it does to just be nice and that place just makes nice people nasty!!

I have been working at Parx Casino full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

The new CEO is trying very hard to turn around the mistakes of the past, great job for young college students, easy work

    Cons

No room for growth, must work holidays, must work weekends, no over time available, emotionally difficult to work with gamblers, over night employees do not get a differential.

I worked at Parx Casino full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Remarkable pay. I was able to save all of my checks in the bank and live solely off my tips. There's also room for advancement if you are popular enough (not based off of the merit of your work; strictly based off of your friendships in this department)

    Cons

Kiss your family goodbye. You will not see them for the remainder of your employment. When I was hired, the VP of marketing said to me, "I didn't spend Christmas with my daughters; we opened presents on Christmas Eve because I was here on Christmas. If you don't think you can do that, don't take this position." Boy was she right. I spent both Thanksgiving and Christmas at Parx. I caution all older Pennsylvanians and...

    Advice to Management

The share holders need to come clear house. Everyone's credentials need to be looked at. It's absolutely crucial at the lower management level. Why would you allow nepotism at a company that handle millions of dollars per week? The only thing that keeps their money safe is a system of checks and balances but, if everyone "checking and balancing" is related...
