I have been working at Pasco County Schools part-time for more than a year

    Pros

Flexible schedule, affordable lunch, little work, time to do your own things, little oversight, little responsibility, get paid to watch kids and do your own work

    Cons

No benefits, no respect or appreciation from school staff, administration and faculty. No support with student behavior. No consequences for students who misbehave. Dirty classrooms, rude and aggressive students, no opportunity for growth.

    Advice to Management

Offer benefits to substitutes, raise wages, offer same contract obligations and rights as regular staff. Don’t treat substitutes as second class citizens. Offer a handbook and respect and offer options with ADA students.
