I worked at Pasco County Schools full-time

    Pros

Have had some good experiences with administrators.

    Cons

Often felt like the left-hand doesn't speak to the right so mixed messages are frequent. Teachers are extremely stressed and it seems that each year it gets more challenging to do the job.

    Pros

The district offers many opportunities to move up within the district.

    Cons

Pay, lack of transparency, and respect.

    Advice to Management

Doing a couple of things very well is better than trying to accomplish multiple tasks with subpar performance.

I have been working at Pasco County Schools full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Some of the longer-tenured employees will go above and beyond for you

    Hours and benefits are great

Working for an education system can be rewarding

    Opportunities to get ideas heard

    Cons

Supervisors often sit on their hands and create false perception that they are working toward a goal.

Lots of useless time-consuming meetings that achieve nothing

    Phony PR-centric persona

Administrators peddle their responsibilities on staff and take no accountability for mistakes.

    No vision

    Tenuous team environment

Administrators will hear your ideas, but often do nothing with them. Or, they will unravel your hard work, repackage it, and call it their own.

Administration doesn't want to invoke positive change.

    Good work often goes unnoticed.

    Advice to Management

Invoke real positive change. Hold yourselves and other administrators accountable and demand more of the lazy employees, who take their comfortable jobs for granted. Demand that they meet expectations and perform like team players — peers should be treated with respect. Compensate hardworking, enthusiastic employees and acknowledge those with great ideas. Make meetings count.

    Pros

    Cons

    Advice to Management

Make more of an effort to keep morale up, make an effort to know what is going on in the classrooms
