    Negative Outlook

I worked at Passaic County Community College full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Low bar. Easy to get in. Those in power will be impressed by simple things that are the bare minimums in other environments.

    Cons

Because the bar is low, your peers, superiors, and the students you aim to serve will, by-and-large, not fulfill someone who is looking to have an impactful career.

    Advice to Management

Take a look in the mirror. Either strive to be a better institution and actually do the work to make it so . . . or admit to being who you are and stop pretending to be more that what you are and what you can handle.

    Positive Outlook

I have been working at Passaic County Community College full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

PCCC has an overall good work environment and is doing great work for the students at the school. The work culture is very positive and once you start you are likely to continue I encourage good people to apply to work at PCCC.

    Cons

The school could update it's technology and systems but overall not many cons.

    Advice to Management

Let people know what their future holds. It is good work and good people to work with but not sure what the future holds.

  9. "PCCC doesn't care about part time employees."

    Pros

Overall this is good place to work, if you have a full time contract.

    Cons

As someone else said, "Management was not always aware of how things were done in the classroom and thereby made poor decisions affecting those who were serving the students. Pay was also below average and minimal chance for increase." Trere are many employees with part-time contracts, no benefits, poor or low rate payment and non opportunity to become full time worker despite long time working there.

I worked at Passaic County Community College full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Very good benefits, summers off. A good place to learn politics and practice your skills. Met a few nice folks while working there. Loved the students.

    Cons

Typical teacher pay (low). Very stubborn, old-fashioned upper management. Tons of internal and departmental politics. Very low tenure rate for new hires. Huge turnover of faculty (both part-time and full-time). One person ends up doing the work of multiple tenured faculty. Main campus is in one of the worst areas in NJ (crime, drugs, etc.).

    Advice to Management

Until you realize you are in the business of education, you will continue to treat education like a business. Retire already or change careers. They remind me of Congress: a bunch of pseudo-bureaucrats pretending to care about the students and their employees. Nothing gets through to them. Innovation and fresh ideas are not welcome. Neither is ambition. Pretty much their own agenda is what the whole college has to follow.

I worked at Passaic County Community College part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The diversity of the student population.

    Cons

Because of the bad reputation given to the city of Paterson by the media, I think that PCCC does not get the credit it deserves.
