I worked at Pasta Pomodoro part-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

A great GM/RM makes the biggest difference in terms of work quality and satisfaction. I was lucky enough to have both, resulting in efficient shifts, a great team, and overall enjoyment during work.

    Cons

The company has undergone many changes throughout the years. It now has more of a corporate outlook that focuses on profit and product; which is understandable considering it is a restaurant chain.

    Advice to Management

Have a better understanding of how hard employees work and provide better communication in regards to company changes.

    Pros

As an employee I made good money and further improved relationships with guest, surrounding companies and other employees.

    Cons

They closed all their restaurants on the 26th of December in 2016. Disappointed and upset to say the least.

    Advice to Management

Management was underpaid for the most part but still attempted to do their best to keep things moving.

    Pros

You can work independently without any micro-managing. Free meals while working.

    Cons

Lack of communication and direction from upper management. Non existent benefits (no 401K and you are given a small stipend to help cover the cost of your medical insurance) other than Dental and Vision.

Provide better benefits to all your employees. Be transparent and honest.

I have been working at Pasta Pomodoro (More than a year)

    Pros

Close-knit company culture, great food. All locations are close together so you can easily pick up shifts at other locations if you need more.

    Cons

Sometimes managers are more important for the numbers they make than the way they treat their employees or guests.

    Advice to Management

Pay attention to your employees - we're the ones that create sales and repeat guests.

I worked at Pasta Pomodoro part-time

    Pros

Decent work environment, nice co workers and regular patrons.

    Cons

Management is corrupt, and does whatever they want to get what they want no matter what the law says. Labor laws are frequently broken and employees are required to follow what management says or leave. No breaks, no lunches, even after working 8+ hours. There is no space for employees to even take breaks.

    Advice to Management

Get your stuff together! We are people too and have feelings and get tired too!

I worked at Pasta Pomodoro part-time (More than 5 years)

fast paced, comfortable environment. good food- leaders definitely could have been more accountable at times in terms of their attention to detail and making sure the staff was trained well and doing their job effectively.

    Cons

corporate structures were a bit annoying when it came to standards and pleasing corporate. definitely need a better review system to take care of their employees.

    Advice to Management

need more training and incentives for employees

I worked at Pasta Pomodoro full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

You get a discount on everything on the menu with the exception of seafood, beef, special dinners, or alcohol.

    Cons

Incompetent management who refuse to take responsibility for their leadership decisions, for the lack of comprehensive training, and for stonewalling progress. Management does not back their own team members, rather, they back even the most unreasonable, irate, foul mouthed, and intoxicated customers instead.

    Advice to Management

Do not keep your head in the sand and ignore what is going on; and look around you! There is much to be done! There is so much to improve upon. Read a few books on leadership, become transparent and open to new ideas, admit your mistakes, stop backstabbing, discard your passive aggressive behavior, build a sense of camaraderie with the team so that people actually look forward to returning, give those working there a sense of purpose and ensure that people know that their contribution matters and cannot be easily done away with at the swipe of a time card, and give entry level servers the opportunity to move up the chain of command. Management is rarely hired from within, and are generally poor leaders. I learned more in my three months of my current position in law enforcement than I did in my twenty-four months at Pasta Pomodoro.
