Pros

I really don’t have any

Cons

I gave 7 years to Meta and they job discontinued me. Ageism is alive and well there. It seems that if you’re over age 50 and white, they lay you off. They’re very big into diversity right now. If you’re not African American or Hispanic, they won’t even consider you. Total reverse discrimination. They haven’t signed on any new clients over the past year which indicates they are not growing. Turning down H&R Block business (or terminating the agreement) was very eye opening. My guess is they plan to sell in the next year to 18 months. Former management ( Tyler Haahr, Brad Hanson) were much more effective as leadership than the current leadership.

Pros

There are no benefits to working at MetaBank. You will waste years of your life here learning processes and skills that are 10 years behind in the industry / exclusive to meta. Your career will flounder. Your already market low salary they offer will stagnate. The executives will continue to pad their compensation package. Coworkers will keeping disappearing with no replacements & your responsibilities will increase without pay increase. Corp. speak: If you want a fast-paced environment that rewards work with more work, that feels more like an empty shell of what it used to be, & wants nothing more than to replace you with lower wage overseas contractors if they could, then this is the place for you.

Cons

HR (known as people & culture at meta) has failed to deliver on promises to revamp the compensation structure for 3+ years now. In addition to this some departments have been receiving raises/bonuses/promotions while others have been ignored and told to apply internally for promotions. Yes, that's right, you apply for promotions here. You do not get rewarded with one. If you want to get a promotion you have to apply & interview internally. Other cons: -Overall benefits package is getting restructured/trimmed -Salaries are low -No growth/career path structure in place -Goals and HHS culture are a carrot & stick for employees that are unfortunate enough to remain here.

Uncaring workplace

Pros

You are able to work remotely.

Cons

The company leadership has taken a wrong turn in the last few years. Selling off their IT was the worst decision. Infrastructure and development no longer get along after the split. Development is unable to keep up with the production fixes that used to be handled by the production support teams. Once the Production Support Teams were outsource, they were no longer able to fix those and have access to our code, now we are so swamped with production bug fixes, we don't have any time to work on new projects. New projects are started, put down, picked up by other teams, put down, picked up by yet another team and by the time it's pushed into production, it's a hodge podge of 3 different teams code and almost incomprehensible. It works, so managers/scrum masters say push it because it's all about getting things into production fast instead of doing things right.
