I worked at PatientSafe Solutions full-time

    Pros

    None that come to mind.

    Cons

Amateurish technical expertise and leadership, rife with the tendencies of micromanagement. Cliquey and awkward company culture. Mom and Pop shop mentality - NOT a good match for the highly regulated and complex healthcare industry. This company is in over their head but they don't seem to realize it. Too many old deadweight middle managers ignoring reality, making bad decisions and deflecting blame. They've very good at hiding all these negatives in the interview process, don't be fooled like I was.

    Advice to Management

Clean house if it's not too late.

I have been working at PatientSafe Solutions full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The team is full of passionate & committed folks who have deep knowledge & experience in their respective areas. The products continue to evolve and customer satisfaction is at an all time high. CEO has done a great job transforming the company over the last year, with transparency and open lines of communication & engagement.

    Cons

Continue to improve on cross functional collaboration and communication. Also, it will be nice to be more proactive than reactive, but that time will hopefully soon come. No real cons to speak of.

    Advice to Management

Keep it up...seems the Company's prospects are better than ever, let's make it happen!

I have been working at PatientSafe Solutions full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    - CEO is deftly transforming company culture and operations into a higher functioning entity than ever before
    - Product platform is competitively above par and extends to meet the challenges of RealTime Health System
    - What we do makes a difference in people's lives. It's incredible to work for a company with integrity, grit, heart and that is poised for such a successful future. I couldn't ask for a better place to work.

    Cons

    - Fast-paced, lean, evolving organization requires entrepreneurial spirit and dedication -- which isn't for everyone.
    - Company is still learning to live by CEO's culture of complete transparency
    - Inter-departmental communication can continue to improve

    Advice to Management

    - Keep up the good work
    - Challenge each other, and all of us, every day for our highest and best

    Pros

The new President & CEO has really turned things around in his short time so far. He has been very transparent with all employees. The attitude and outlook of the company has never been higher, in my opinion, since I have been here.

    Cons

Communication between departments can still be lacking, but it has been a major area of focus and has definitely been improving.

I worked at PatientSafe Solutions full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The location is near some good lunch spots.

    Cons

The software dev managers micromanage and are not up-to-date with the latest technology. They are inflexible and for the most part unknowledgeable about proper software development practices.

    Advice to Management

The status quo is not always the best. You may need new blood in management. Try hiring managers that are from more innovating companies so that your product will be innovative too.

    Pros

Great product that changes healthcare organizations and saves patient lives. Start-up environment with great flexibility and dedicated employees. CEO does great job of keeping everyone in the loop of weekly activities in the field, whether they are positive or negative, not alot of candy coating. Changes to new management from previous management has been very positive both internally & externally. Great place to be for hard-working nose to the grindstone employees...you will be rewarded well.

    Cons

Extremely fast paced, so you need to know the industry to be successful. Product is starting to reach the right organizations/partners so there are alot of growing pains.

    Advice to Management

Keep caring about your employees and being transparent. Keep eyes open and good luck with growth.

    Pros

i haven't been here long but a few things stand out:
it pays well. place feels energetic. you can feel something special happening. they work on important issues in the hospital. it's a product everyone is actually excited about. a lot of buzz every week. their wkly all-hands is pretty unusual - sometimes the CEO use it as real-time feedback session on problems the company is dealing with. it must be scary to some managers. but i do think most people end up appreciating this. a few "clique-y" old-timers are not shy about how quickly things are changing and how they wish this had happened sooner.

    Cons

a lot of work tends to pile onto a few people. training of new people is still lacking. even though the CEO call this out openly during his orientations with new hires, the managers are not changing this fast enough.

company is getting new business, but it is not adding staff fast enough.

    Advice to Management

don't lose the transparency as you get bigger. hire more. look into engineering side more.

I have been working at PatientSafe Solutions full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

I can't speak to the way it was under previous management as I came in after Si took the helm, but overall it is not a bad company to work for given the size. There is a sense of family there, and everyone is given quite a bit of freedom -- there does not seem to be much micromanaging going on. The workload is not as insanely demanding as most companies this size would have. Pay seems to be on par with other companies in the area. The company shuts down for the week between Christmas and New Years.

    Cons

The benefits, while decent, are not that great. There is no option for Kaiser, which is kind of a bummer for me, because the health provider in my part of town leaves a lot to be desired. There is no matching on the 401k. Sick and vacation are clumped together into only 15 days PTO per year, which is pretty weak compared to other companies in the area. My experience elsewhere is that 15 days vacation is the minimum and sick days are either on the honor system (take 'em if you need 'em) or separated out so they do not impact your accrued vacation time.

    Advice to Management

Invest in the benefits department, particularly the 401k and medical/dental plans. Don't make employees use PTO for sick days, or at least start employees off with 20 days instead of 15 if you're worried about it. The high level direction of the company makes sense, but more planning and organization at the ground level would help. Too often, key players are pulled off of development tasks to put out fires or work on customer-specific patches.

    Pros

Good people to work with and innovative products that can make a good difference to people's lives. Good potential for the company and people as the Healthcare market becomes more ready for mobile tools.

    Cons

Developing and selling innovative technology solutions into Healthcare is not easy. The company is operating in what is still a new product space and the whole industry is still figuring out the role and best-use of mobile care orchestration tools. There will likely be many more twists and turns on this road, so as an employee you'd need to be comfortable with a degree of change and uncertainty

    Advice to Management

Keep up with the high-transparency strategy.
