I worked at Patients & Purpose (Less than a year)

    Pros

CDMiConnect was a formative moment in my professional career. I spent time in the Project Management department, and eventually transferred to another department.

The PM department is a bastion of process and diligence that completely reshaped my own skill set. The pace of work required that level of dedication to process to help keep things straight, but also to manage larger and larger workloads, with larger teams.

Overall, if you are willing to work hard, put yourself out there, be process oriented and data driven, you will be rewarded. But if you sit back and expect things to come your way [by putting one foot in front of the other], you will get washed up in the high volume of workload and may feel completely trampled. Its up to each employee to chart their own course, communicate their career growth motives, be vocal about new ideas, and go get 'em. If you can do that, I think management will support your endeavors to become a stronger contributor.

There are some absolutely great people who work here.

    Cons

While process is amazing, helps maintain standards and keep things moving, it can also be burdensome. Learning the ropes can be pretty intimidating.

The workload can be overwhelming at times. Its the nature of service work, when you are working for clients, you gotta put someone on the new business until a new hire can be made. Management certainly does their best to allocate bandwidth. But sometimes you gotta roll with the punches of a huge workload for months on end. In this sense, work-life balance can feel out of reach for 3-6 months at a time.

Compensation is low. Be careful if you get locked into a certain salary bracket, it may take years to earn a substantial raise. Bonuses are a diminishing idea in today's business world, but they do their best to provide yearly bonuses.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the good work. Continue to let your staff be communicative of their ambitions and open doors for them to achieve the next level in their careers.

I worked at Patients & Purpose full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Very nice people, pay is decent, promotions are plenty, great intranet system. Great at selling themselves as digitally innovative though.

    Cons

In my time there, they were FAR from being innovative (about 2 years behind). The work that's done is below standard. Culture is weak (but they think it's great), and no real thinking is done there.

    Advice to Management

Train the middle level account people better so that the SVP's and above can concentrate on new business.

    Pros

Good people when you have time to converse and engage in the company goings on.

    Cons

Projects can pile up on certain brands.

    Advice to Management

Encourage and help employees rather than have them manage themselves for you.

I have been working at Patients & Purpose full-time

    Pros

Met some of the best in the business, and look forward to meeting more. Re-positioning our name to focus strictly on patients is a big step in the right direction IMO. P&P does it well, and isnt afraid to tell clients what they really need vs. what they want to hear. PM has a strong voice and strong role at the agency that is appreciated and understood.

    Cons

With growth comes some growing pains, but P&P is adapting well.

    Advice to Management

As we grow, keep an eye on the culture. Keep pushing advocacy for the patient.

I have been working at Patients & Purpose full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

-At any agency, the people make the place, particularly the leadership. And the people at P&P make it a special place
-They genuinely seem to give a damn about people's growth and well-being, and it's good for business
-They're constantly growing and stretching--not just in size, but in the types of work they do
-Their location in the West Village is mint

    Cons

Some of the internal systems and processes can be a bit of a bog

    Advice to Management

Push back on OHG when their policies and practices are bad for business, morale, etc...

    Too many inexperienced new people

    Advice to Management

You're losing what made you unique and a fun place to work hard and play hard.

I have been working at Patients & Purpose full-time

    Pros

Really, really, really great people. I've worked at quite a few agencies and never experienced anything like CDMi. It's a very special place.

    Cons

Like all agencies that I have experienced and know of--you can work long hours. But it comes in waves. And at least the people are great to be around.

    Advice to Management

    Keep it up
