    Pros

There are a few people in Patni who deliver, are incisive and focused. Working with them was a great experience, but like all good people in Patni they tend not to stick around and move on to greener pastures.

    Cons

Patni is too focused on India - and this results in poor deliverables to clients certainly in North America. Senior management are focused on selling Patni no matter what - and it shows in the brutal ways they focus on margins to the exclsion of almost everything else. HR and cost containment on expenses is some of the worst I have ever experienced and could not possibly recommend Patni as a place to work to anyone.

    Advice to Management

Focus on employees and deliverables in engagements. Avoiding those issues and treating employees like raw materials to be burnt out is now showing in the attrition rate of some of your best people - leaving in droves.

    Pros

Compared to other companies, the assignments are more or less local to the same area.
Immediate manager is willing to help you if you voice your opinion.

    Cons

    No Over time per FLSA
Just give jobs to fill an opening - not necessarily one that fits your profile.
    Low salary
    Internal processes are chaotic.
Intranet is like a kids' toy. Some parts work. Some don't and people have made peace with it.

    Advice to Management

Place your resources in the right places - not just to get them billable.
Need to pay higher salaries to IT guys. You have to look at the median for companies in the US...not Indian IT companies in the US.

    Pros

Some of the people in Patni are extremely bright and will remain good friends and hopefully colleagues when I have managed to escape.

    Cons

One of the worst places to work imaginable. Terrible senior management with no vision, lack of respect for employees, below par compensation, so much red tape the place is suffocating. Lack of transparency, scrambling to make numbers due to lack of investment in the operational side of the business and a skeptical market wondering when the company will be bought.

    Advice to Management

Treat your staff with respect. Put in place a fair measurement system and pay the bonus on time - no organization that pays the due compensations months behind schedule will never win the respect of its staff. Ever.

    Pros

    Nice place to start career

    Cons

Compensation, Growth opportunities, opportunities to stay focused or switch careers is not available easily, Change cannot happen with most of the the same people from the past leading

    Advice to Management

Culture change is going to require some people at senior management to be released; Compensation to be looked into seriously

    Pros

Well they bring you in USA, and open doors for you.

    Cons

By getting you in USA, they also exploit you financially. Simple as that!

    Advice to Management

    You could do better!

    Pros

Job stability ( they wont be firing you unless you fare bad beyond belief)
Hard to think of anything else

    Cons

Salary ( Expect to get paid below par)
promotions are given for the number of years worked not on the work you did or the performace shown
Project Managers are BAD - Some clients will laugh at their competence

    Advice to Management

Try to offer reasonable pay packet . Hire qualified PM's . dont make anyone a manager just because he has 10 years experience. hire people with good communication

    Pros

The work environment is the best. The managers mostly don't do micro management. Time offs are ok as long as they don't hamper any critical release.

    Cons

Low pay and one tends to get lost in the crowd. Job rotation is not considered mandatory unless the employee asks for a change, one could get stuck in a project for years. The company goals are not well communicated to the employees on a regular basis.

    Advice to Management

take care of the employees better, conduct appraisals in a better fashion, provide better training to employees

    Pros

live a stagnant life, retired life. Patni has a lot of scope to improve in communication area. The communication between the heads in Mumbai office and thebranches in other countries is all broken. also they can learn from mindtree consulting. get some more brilliant guys like they do in Mindtree and compete aggresively. also get some more training from the vendor who will be more professional rather than the inhouse trainings. having said that patni also has some plus points. as they do have a laid back atmosphere at delivery sites. so if you want to live a retired life than its a good place to be. but expect just less 1% increments in a year.

    Cons

No Training, No investment in employees.

    Advice to Management

Invest in people's training in USA
