I have been working at Patni Computer Systems full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Not many...
Challenges are on your way, if you are ready to face.
For those who don't want to work - Say I DO NOT know, no one bothers you.
For those who want to work - Becareful before accepting or saying YES. You are completely made responsible

Growth - Depends on your ability to perform

Organisation is growing. May expect something good can happen.

    Cons

    So Many..
    No good practices followed.
No one takes responsibility. If you take you are a fool.
Relies on existing clients and same routine works.
Mostly maintenance projects. So, not much to perform or learn. (Ofcourse there will be very little initially)
Exisitng employees feels as if they are legends, which is nothing related when compared to the equivalent experienced people in the market..
HR's (Big Jokers) - Low class people with no reason to discuss about.
Support functions - They are owners of the company and thinks employees are working for them !!
Not much support technically from any groups or teams. Ofcourse one has search engines to do the task.
No one cares about unless there is an escalation ...

    Advice to Management

Out source support function teams like Travel, IT and others so that one will feel responsible for their work. Create a strong tracking matrix.

Don't send too many e-mails stating policies. Keep a single store and make them available to employee so that one can access as required. No employee is free enough to search and beg HR's (Ofcourse it takes Ages to get response upon several reminders) for that minimal required data.

Think about quality inside before guiding others especially clients.

Take care about an employee especially when he is travelling abroad for official purpose. Even though he might earn more than his peers at offshore but that doesn't mean he can take care of everything himself. After all he is travelling for you not to enjoy his vacation.

Study the market (Country specific) and create policies as per the rules and regulations applicable in that country/region. There are many countries other than US/UK in this world and you have employees working there binding to that very labour laws.

Create some internal forums and service handling portals (Do not say iConnect, that is worth for nothing !!) and keep track of what is bothering employees most rather than shouting in news papers and magazines about your bests.

Think about flexible policies (For those who sacrifices weekends and spens long hours) by compensating. After all policies are created for better work environment (I feel) and are to be revised as and when required.
