I worked at Patterson Veterinary full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Great pay and benefits. Always felt like they really cared about their employees. Upper management took the time to get to know their employees.

    Cons

No CRM and they had us use antiquated software. This was going to change from what I understand.

    Advice to Management

Upper management should continue to keep lines of communication open with their sales reps. More training opportunities.

I have been working at Patterson Veterinary full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

excellent work / life balance for field techs.

    Cons

hourly pay far below industry standards for mid-career field techs. very poor communication between departments. The company moved over to SAP software, but nothing is working properly. poor support for field techs. lots of wasted days driving hundreds of miles to a service call- only to have the wrong parts shipped, or no parts, or the clinic is too busy to do any work. poor training. LOTS of wasted money by management....

    Advice to Management

support your field techs! stop with the nonsense protocol! lead with a little common sense. offer better training- stop bogging down tech with nonsense emails.

I worked at Patterson Veterinary full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    great co-workers, great working hours

    Cons

    Management style, favoritism, angry customers

    Advice to Management

Leadership training is seriously needed. Favoritism ran rampant. The office was at times extremely toxic to work in and cost the company quite a few good employees.

I worked at Patterson Veterinary full-time

    Pros

Decent pay – seems to be the same throughout the country which can be better for some and just ‘blah’ in other places. Relatively independent, some travel, usually amicably co-workers, most customers seem to find some value in you being a Field Service rep for them.

    Cons

This is what I wished someone had written before I signed on: This job description, “Patterson Veterinary is looking for an independent worker who is interested in the field of bio-medical (veterinary) device and equipment repair.” Sounds like you would work on medical equipment like in a hospital, except its animal orientated right? Anesthesia systems, xrays, lasers, ultra-sounds, lab analysis equipment, patient monitoring...

I have been working at Patterson Veterinary full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Great benefits, evolving company culture, communication improving

    Cons

Pay not consistent with industry standards, slow to action/implementation of needed changes or improvements

    Advice to Management

Consider increasing pay to keep up with cost of living changes and industry standards. Consider completing key projects before starting new ones- if employee see that plans are working in a positive way, they will be more likely to be open to additional changes.

I have been working at Patterson Veterinary full-time

    Pros

A few decent coworkers. Sometimes flexibility. Decent pay and benefits.

    Cons

Very unorganized. Lack of support and communication. No accountability. Nepotism. You will look bad in front of clients due to the lack of communication. No recognition. Poor work/family balance. Horrible HR department. Company seems in limbo with no true direction.

    Advice to Management

More Communication and Support!!!! Met my manager in person, once. There has been an astonishing and alarming amount of good to great employees leaving recently for some reason. Care more in general and care more for your employees.

    I worked at Patterson Veterinary

    Pros

    - Work environment - Manufacturer training - Great work/life balance - Health benefits - Paid well

    Cons

    - Is there an HR?! - No encouragement for movement within the company - I was told "spiffs"/"bonuses" for sales would be more than they were - No raises

    Advice to Management

    - If it's a good employee - do whatever you can to keep them. - Be present & know what issues employees are having - customer service talks to your customers every day, not your territory managers. Often times customer service knows more!
