I have been working at Paul Mitchell Advanced Education full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    A lot of advanced education.

    Cons

You have to work long hours, especially if there is a night program. Administration gets paid more than the teachers and the teachers do most of the work.

    Advice to Management

Care more about the learning leaders.

I worked at Paul Mitchell Advanced Education full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

The education that Paul Mitchell provides is top-notch pushing their Learning Leaders to become better in their field. They provide their Future Professionals with the experience they need to become amazing stylists.

    Cons

When you have owners like the Landino's who belittle, berate, and make you feel insignificant the hard work that the Learning Leaders are trying to do for the Future Professionals falls short. Especially if you do not look, act, or model the Landino's platform...not Paul Mitchell's.

    Advice to Management

Do not focus on peoples looks, but on their character. The Learning Leaders are there to teach the students, not be dress up dolls for the owners. Our weight, kind hearts or wardrobe should not be what you are focusing on. The passion to teach and teach well should be the ONLY thing you are focused on.

I worked at Paul Mitchell Advanced Education full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Culture within the school was amazing. The director and administrative staff are always helpful and understanding. Very understanding of emergencies and sick time.

    Cons

Paying teachers better will help prevent turnover. I wish i could afford to stay working at this job, but unfortunatly paycheck to paycheck isnt a sustainable lifestyle

    Pros

Company seeks to promote from within. It is a high energy environment. It is a very diverse workplace. Leadership is generous and is very supportive of staff members personal and professional goals. The staff is encouraged to have a basic understanding of all facets of the business. Management is willing to accommodate schedules for unexpected life events. Creativity is encouraged and contributions are equally recognized...

    Cons

Continuous contact outside of business hours. Requirement to maintain contact via text, email, and group messaging app on personal devices. High turnover. Leadership rarely present. Directives are often inconsistent. Leaders comfort with staff members leads them to openly speak poorly of others behind closed doors. Inappropriate behaviors and language are pervasive within the culture.

    Advice to Management

Business related contact outside of business hours should be limited to matters of urgency. Refrain from disparaging employees to their fellow team members. Don't recruit subordinates to act as spies for reporting the actions and behaviors of their team mates. Mandated company travel should not require team members to share a bed. Cancellations to scheduled meetings should be the exception, not the norm. Leadership’s...

I worked at Paul Mitchell Advanced Education full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Loved the values of this school and their "systems" made it easy to be on the same page - both staff and students. Fun & academic interactions with students, opportunity to recruit, other good incentives. They care so much about personal/professional growth.

    Cons

While this is a for-profit company, there was no commission/incentive for exceeding recruitment goals. Pay and benefits are NOT competitive. Management/ownership is very kind but unprofessional.

    Advice to Management

Put your employees AND students first and be kind to all. Keep it simple, "think before you speak"
